Hi all,

Topup coolant indicator warning came on twice, it also indicate topup immediately to prevent engine damage, there was no sign of leakage and coolant reservoir was still above MAX mark. Sent to PML and according to customer service officer, SA Raymond visually check the engine compartment and confirm no leakage, and he topup radiator with water. I was quite shock that she told me for this car, need to topup water regularly even though coolant level at reservoir indicating ok. Anyone can verify this??

Think u kena smoked. You should ask her what she meant by regularly.
Radiators are usually one of the least headache parts.
When it starts giving problem, something is definitely wrong.

Thanks dude!! Damn, i was naive enough to believe the stupid customer service officer knowing very well all my previous conti ride have never need to topup radiator water at all, just need to monitor the coolant reservoir mark. Waiting for SA to call me n will give him a good screw!!:whipper:

You have to remember PML trains their staff well.
First thing all of them learn and have to memorise by heart is to assume all customers are complete idiots. Hence, your position. Its definitely not normal. It's relatively common for quite a handful of BMW's to have this problem and ususally its the coolant reservoir leaking due to crack or gasket.

Bro, in the 10 years that I've gone Continental, I've never had to top up Radiator with water. EVER.

PML will always top up WASHER FLUID for me, and whack me $14.00++ for it, but never need to top up radiator with water.

I think you should check for smoke alarm warning - because I think you've just been smoked!

Re: Did I kena smoke by PML SA???

few questions....

when your coolant level was checked...was the engine turned on or off??

1) coolant level in reservior is MAX when car is cooled.... meaning... left parked overnight and engine not turned on the next morning when checking levels....

2) coolant level in reservior is MAX when car is hot.... meaning... driving around when coolant reservior indicator level chimed low level.

if option 1.... yet indicator level chimed low level.... upon start up of car... then perhaps the water pump of the car spoil, it is not circulating coolant in a proper manner to cool then engine.

if option 2... then park the car overnight, check level of coolant in the morning before driving off....
coolant level should be at MAX level. when driving around, the coolant level should rise above MAX but below the overflow of the coolant reservior... then you should be ok.

Re: Did I kena smoke by PML SA???

coolant reservoir is typically 50 / 50 mix of water and coolant (antifreeze) liquid....but some marques do 100% coolant liquid...

Now u know why PML does not dare to go for any quality certifications like "Singapore Quality Award" n ISO 2000 etc... they know they will pass with flying colors

Thanks! I have checked both ie early morning before start, and also when engine was hot after some travel. The level was slightly above MAX mark which I think is acceptable. Now, the level has gone way beyond MAX mark, almost reaching the brim last checked after travelling for sometimes. Think the moron just add lots water in there and try his luck. Fcuking shit, he must have thought I first time owning a car and do not know basic maintenance some sort.

Re: Did I kena smoke by PML SA???

When we top up, do we need to unscrew bleeding screw? (Serious Question)

Re: Did I kena smoke by PML SA???

even sushi (toyota), kimchi (hyundai) or nasi lemak (proton) no need to top up coolant .... either flush and refill coolant and it's good to go for another 2-3 years

Re: Did I kena smoke by PML SA???

coolant indicator/sensor spoil liao....

radiator if no reliable sensor will mean your car kenna overheat until happy happy you still dunno and think your ultimate driving machine very sart kee, rev liao got smoke come out..can drift

I think hereon anything or any issue which could remotely trigger a discharge of responsibilities from the SA, you better get a second opinion either in this forum or from the secondary workshops.

SOP from now on......
