had this golf TDi manual for a week in germany last Nov.
Total Km travelled: 1200km FC: 22km/l top speed: 195kmh average expressway speed: 120-140kmh No aircon at all (its winter!)

diesel engines inevitably wil sound like taxi but with good insulation being in the cabin, u wil feel no diff vs its petrol sibling. only outside wil b taxi sounding but who cares. :laughlik:

well while they always say diesel high torque, i act didnt feel so. u got to step quite hard to get the revs. so honestly in sg's start stop traffic and 100% aircon and auto tranny, i wld thk the TDi FC would be closer to 15-17km/l. so nothing's changed - not worth paying gahmen the diesel levy if u low user. :woottt:

I drove E90 320d and E60 525d in France and Spain, and they are superb!

Full tank on the 320d covers over 1,000km. First time I saw range estimate on iDrive over 1,000km! Used up just 3/4 tank from Toulouse to Barcelona and back to Toulouse (about 850km journey).

i took the 525d to 225km/h and it still raring to accelerate but my balls were not big enough. 400Nm of torque! Less than 3 hours from Toulouse to Bordeaux. Amazing!

After the trip, came back to SG and sold my 1 year old 159 and bought a 6 months old E60 525i (wish there were diesel BMW in SG then). Now my E60 still has 3 years to go. Will switch to F30 320d when COE is the right price (below 50K).
