Hi All,

Digi Tec claimed an increase of 12 KW and 13 PS for Valvetronic from 105 KW / 143 PS. For car with CAI and exhaust such as GruppeM and Hamann, the ROM reprogramming will be customized to your car.

It's available for 22,750 Baht or about 900 SGD in Thailand. I'll drop into the tuner shop for more info. and references. So far, their customers are mostly E46 330i.

Rgds,

Peter

Yes...This is for N42B20 engine. The distributor in Thailand explained to me that the company will send individual car info from ROM in ECU to HQ in Germany. The HQ will do the ECU software remap and send back to them for loading on our car.

There is no wiring just a software upgrade to our ROM.

Woah. Finally an upgrade for N42B20 engine! :) Who is this distributor? How long is ECU turnover? Is the process reversible? I'm very interested! Been looking all over the internet for an upgrade for my car...

The distributor in Thailand is ARTO TRD( Toyota TRD ). They are well known for sending race car to track and tuning Toyota here. Now they expand into European cars.

They will back up your ROM in Diskette and send info. to Digi-Tec Germany by E-mail. The reply is 6 hours. Then they will use the mapping receive by E-mail to program your ECU in 30 minutes. There is no wiring, no cutting to your ECU. :-D

Bottom line is you don't have to take your ECU out of the car at all. http://www.digi-tec.co.th

What's the cost of tuning? Anybody tried it yet?

Re: Digi Tec ECU Reprogramming for E46 Valvetronic

It's pretty expensive - 699 euro (comes out to $560 USD) for N42 valvetronic. But the upgrade's scarcity is worth it... I wonder if anyone's done this and if there is a positive change in engine. Skeptic, but very interested :)

Re: Digi Tec ECU Reprogramming for E46 Valvetronic

Any updates Peter?

How was it done and how much gain was recorded?

Thanks!

There is another Digitec. A Swiss one here:

http://www.digitaltuning.ch/english/index.html

Select your car model and click on the "notebook" icon to see the increase details.

From what I understand, such tuning is very noticable once done. At least for the first 2 weeks, one would enjoy it very much. The shift in torque from 10% but at a lower rpm value makes this "butt dyno" difference significant. On can almost, feel a better throttle response, but that is not actually true as it is a side effect of more torque at lower rpms.
Those who drives hard and notices rpm numbers all the time, will feel the greatest change as the "kick" seems to come in sooner than expected. (This ia all I gathered from various people who has done it, have not done it myself, except I did similar using Apexi SAFC to adjust the torque curve at the expense FC, it works similarly). I can make my car sluggish and economical or powerful but drinks more.

About the going price, I am afraid. Not cheap but , its about the best way of getting more power/torque without changing anything mechanical in the car.
The diesel chip tuning power gain is amazing!. AT least 25% and thats a whole lot!. In such case, definitely worth the money!.
