now when i open my boot cover, it will always open violently with great force.. i went to performance motors and told dem bout the problem and they claim its the actuator problem where the replacement will cost 400+ bucks with no gurantee of solving the problem... what i suspect is tt its just a worn-out spring or something..

anybody have similar experiences before or could advise?

Re: E60 Boot Actuator Malfunction

I would advice you to go other workshop for an accessment then see what can be done. PML is most famous to change the whole parts even just a screw missing, just making an example here.

Re: E60 Boot Actuator Malfunction

Could not open my boot few months back and went to PML. Was also told got to replace some 'boot mechanism' costing $400++. Went to a shop outside (refer to the sponsor list) and fixed it within 10 min.

in ur case which part was replaced?

Re: E60 Boot Actuator Malfunction

No parts replaced, just a check on the boot wiring

Re: E60 Boot Actuator Malfunction

should be the spring damper and it is a wear and tear issue. it is supposed to cushion the opening so it will not rock violently.
u should be able see it behind the springs. ask another workshop for advise before agree to get it done in PML. my personal opinion only.

Re: E60 Boot Actuator Malfunction

sorry to hijack this thread but I am having problems with my central locking. When I remove the remote control from the car after shutting down the engine, all doors will unlock for a second and immediately all will lock up again. Any idea what's wrong?
