E60 or F10...?

Hi, am considering between the E60(525iXL) and the F10(523i)....need advices from all the gurus here.

Seen and test drive an E60 (525iXL) around 3.5 years old and like the feel. Pricing within budget. What are the other issues to look out for in this model?

As for the F10(523i), most on sale now are between 2010 and 2011. Therefore, pricing wise in the region of about $180K-$200K. Wifey prefers the look of the F10 vs the E60 but the depreciation values really makes me think twice about rushing in...Also, any issues with this model?

Am really appreciate if friends/gurus here can give their advice.....Thanks!

Re: E60 or F10...?

Buy E60 and u may regret... then u will have to go back to the hassle of selling and buying F10 later. Don't waste time, MTL, go straight to F10. I m serious.... depre be damned!

Most importantly your CO already given the "green light" to you to proceed with the F10..
You might regret not because you have chosen the E60.. but regret for being F@#k by your CO for not chosen her fav car..

Hi. Ive driven the e60 525lci and now driving the f10 523i. I prefer the f10 for its looks and drive. The zf 8 speed transmission is awesone. But i am a hardcore inline 6 guy and dun really trust the new n20 engines.

Re: E60 or F10...?

i think its best not to stretch yourself beyond the limits.
its best to do a table comparison between the e60 and a brand new F10 that you are eyeing.
for the newer f10, i guess u probaby be tied down with a loan for quite a while VS a short term loan for the e60.
its best to know how long u are willing to commit for a car loan for the car, your monthly repayment etc....any backup plan in case economy screws up this year.....any other committments besides the car etc.
do note that you will most likely be able to get a 2 year loan for a 3 year left car, ie the e60

heart will say F10 but head might say E60.....i guess its up to the individual
me spoilsport but well, it always pay to be prudent

Re: E60 or F10...?

agree with the views mentioned here.... both camps.

I am for buying the new F10 if your finances allow and had to choose between either E60 vs F10.

However, I also advocate 'dun over stretch yourself financially' mantra.

sure...seems like I am sitting on the fence here and not willing to stick out my neck to give my views.

however, a 3.5 year old e60 is past its warranty period...repairs MIGHT be costly, down time at workshop might frustrate you.

the f10 car is newer, statistically speaking, should be problem free....however, some might disagree that a newer car might not be a perfect specimen from factory, but at least there is peace of mind that warranty will cover most mechanical defects...if not all.

** my assumptions are based upon both cars are authorized dealer (AD) cars.

Re: E60 or F10...?

Wise words bro steven & bro jason. Wise words. Never stretch more than what you can comfortably afford (as my wife once reminded me, when I went on a fool's errand for the SLS). Better to find a hat the same size as one's head. Better to find a rubber the same fit as one's other head....

Ah well, you get my drift :)

Re: E60 or F10...?
