E60 - Tyre Pressure loss

Hi All,

Good day to all. I have this issue which I am hoping someone could be kind enuf to share their advise on how I can solve the below.

I have a E60, while driving I received a message saying that there is a tyre pressure loss. The strange thing is - I am using non- run flat tyres i.e. regular tyres. For these tyres, I have been regularly checking my pressure and also so called "calibrate" these tyres after each tyre pump.

With this message, which I just received today - it tells me I can't move more than 80km/hr - now I am stuck as to what I should do, should I ignore? - which I don't think its a good idea. I am due to change my all tyres which are now about 2yrs but have not had the chance to do so. Could this be an issue?

Better drive in to yr regular tyre shop and check all your tyres and see which one flat.... Fix it before it becomes a bigger problems..

Hi,

Thanks for the advise, I got it sorted out. It was indeed an issue with one of the tyres - it was not easily seen - it had a puncture.

Me too got this message. I just collected my E60 today and on run flat tyres.

I check and no puncture. What could be the possible cause?

What's the tyre pressure i should pump for my run flat tyre?

After resetting the tyre pressure from the i-drive, the message is gone.
Appreciate all advice

Dont ignore any message shown.(BMW is helping us make our driving or journey SAFE)
especially the pressure lost, it indicating you the tyre (1 or more ) is loosing pressure.
driving on low pressure tyre for prolong period of time could lead to tyre failure not just the cost of tyre but risking the car may go lost control at high speed.
Please get the tyres(4) check by expert or so call your regular tyre diam.
if time not allow you can just drive within 80km/h(recommended by BMW)(must be on runflat tyre) and do the check later.
for those on non runflat tyre you have to get it check and fix sooner possible otherwise once the tyre completely flat your are stalled. or tyre demaged after driven for long distance.
The last thing do remember BEST is internal repair which can visually examine your tyre internally for any secondary demaged.
is quite dangerious to run on a repaired but injured internally tyre.

I'm too on non-run-flat tires. I had this tire pressure warning TWICE. And both times, the tires LOOKED perfectly normal. But after driving a short distance to petrol station to try to pump it up, noticed that indeed one of the tires was leaking - abit slowly.

Thereafter, I'm so glad that BMW has this tire pressure warning system - as in my previous ride didn't have, I only notice a leaking tire after it's gone flat. And when it's flat (REALLY FLAT), the sidewall "folds" and thus permanently damaging the tires - requiring a replacement instead of repair.

So I must say that this warning system has saved me 2 expensive tire replacements.

Brother, Bimmer eqiup this not to save your exp tyre.

Recently got a message in i-drive. After re-setting it, everything is back to normal. Wondering is there a leak in my tyre or it was a false alarm?

For E60, if you check the sticker at the driver's door, it should be 200 front and 240 rear if you are using 225/50/17 and carrying 4 people in the car and 1 suitcase in the boot (if i recall correctly). Go have a look at your car as i may have remembered wrongly.

After pumping pressure, go into iDrive and reset the tyre pressure monitor (it should be under RPA). Then exit that screen and go back to home screen. It will take some time for the sensor to set the tolerance range of pressure for your tyres so don't worry.

Also, don't keep resetting it because if you are expecting some sort of instant response from the tyre pressure monitor, it doesn't work that way, and you have to give it some time.
