Re: e60 upgrade horsepower

No lah, car exterior and interior

have u ever noticed when ur car is damn dirty inside or outside, it always seem heavy and not willing to go?

Then after u wash, wax, vacuum and show some TLC on it and its sparkling clean and shiny, u drive it and suddenly notice the car very light and powerful

Re: e60 upgrade horsepower

PB with map3 does make my gearbox behave jerky, especially after some lutting with high revs and speed.
Drop to map 2 will feel better although not that power as compared with map 3.
Do you guys have same experience?

Re: e60 upgrade horsepower

From what I heard its a piggyback thing,so when u don want it anymore,u can just take it out and it won't affect anything much to your car.

Re: e60 upgrade horsepower

Thanks for the reply. Any idea where can this box be purchased? What's the cost of installation?

Re: e60 upgrade horsepower

I've been been advised to go for power tune packages that includes wetterauer flash prog, Steinbauer light throttle and brisk spark plugs. It seems really ex compared to Powerbox but from my understanding the PB is quite similar to sprint booster devices yes? Do ECU mapping really boost your horses? What are your thoughts on this jedi masters? Thanks in advance!

Stock is the best. Buy 530.

Haha I wish...mine's only a 525...
Save more $$ to buy F10 535.

If save even more $$, can follow MW & buy 555.

Hi Quenten,

How much is the tune packages?

It depend how much/far you wish to mod, mod are never ending.......

If you intend to keep the ride till Scrap, and not spending a bomb to mod(Not worth spending a bomb, must well buy a 530. Same depreciation as 525).

I think remap/reflash + intake + cat back system/muffler, are more than enough. Reflash have to be the last thing to do after intake & exhaust system. There are more thing to play if you go for reflash.

Go for reflash if you intend to go for:
1. Intake ~ CAI/Drop in etc
2. Exhaust ~ Down pipe, Cat back system. How big the dia of the pipe play a parts, and whether you go for low/mid/high end gain? or you prefer torque or hp gain etc.........

We cannot compare Power box with reflash, no way power box will have higher gain than reflash. And whether how stable is the powerbox nobody knows....

Try a powerbox setup with the throttle booster off & a reflash ride. You will sure feel the different.

PS: powerbox is not sprint booster, it combine a standard remap for N52 engine, Plus a sprint booster function(I never ever like throttle booster). Every car is different. even if you compare 2 stock 525 from a factory. So reflash will be a customise tuning for your ride.

Many bros goes for the powerbox, as it can be dekit & sold. But a reflash ECU can't.

I am currently on Powerbox, I set at Map 7 after I had tried Map3, Map1 & Map2.

You are not in the wrong direction, but it is very important to get the right tuner. Please share with me your research, I am currently on the look out for a turner too. To replace the powerbox, so I can sell the powerbox. Lols....

Happy modding....

Hi CT13,

thanks for taking the time in explaining all this to me...much appreciated!!! the tune package I got was about 1.8K.

now looking for coilovers, Mtec kits etc...gosh its endless!! all because I can't afford to upgrade to F10! so mods would be cheaper I guess...hahaha

Re: e60 upgrade horsepower

By fitting the power box does it increase the horse of the car? I guess if power box is like piggyback it will not help much in terms of horsepower right?

If I m looking into increase in horsepower remap is a better but more expensive solution right? Can some good heart people give me some advise?

Thank u many many!

"only a 525."

This is a dream car to many people.

Life's satisfaction is relative.

Don't get me wrong - there is nothing wrong with having a wish list that includes a MW555. But a "525" is certainly not an everybody's car. Enjoy the moment; treasure the experience. A 525 is alot safer than a felali.
