there is many other workshops can do simple oil change job...... unless u need to diagnose some issues then you may want to go to the specialised bmw workshops.

for me i have been to 2 sponsor workshops and 2 other non-sponsor workshops who are familiar with conti-cars.

just go to which ever make you comfortable

then like tat you better change cheaper engine oil , try 77 lubricants . call jeff @91816484.
they got 5w50 or 5w40.

bro my E63 at 160km olso oil same problem workshop said change gasket and seal cost 5k siao liao

i hv decided to use 10w50 oil and just top up when prompt, my estimate is it will be cheaper than doing top overhaul.

10w50 oil seems to disappear slower than 5w40 oil after last 6 weeks of monitoring.

guys, there is absolutely NO WAY that changing seals and gaskets will cost $5k. that's plain ridiculous!


i've just changed mine at R2D and it cost a small fraction of that.


pls go get a second opinion.

and topping up engine oil is not the solution for oil leaks.

I also have same disappearing oil problem on my ex-ride. Problems cannot be diagnosed by 3 workshops, which is good because I saved $$. I just top up oil. In the beginning, 1L per 1000km. After changing to thicker oil, 1L per 2500km. Till the day the car was exported (or maybe it was scrapped by dealer, but definitely not sold locally), I still have no idea of the source of problem.

Anyway I sold my ride and bought this one instead, which till this day does not give me much problem:

hi Aaron, I did not opt for the top overhaul... decided to just top up engine oil.

Was quoted by 3 workshops that top overhaul should be in the region of $3k plus minus...... u may want to check with the workshop yourself.

I have the same problem, top up 1L every 1500km, R2D told me to 3 options, 1) Engine rebuild (cost $5k), 2) keep topping up 1L engine until car scrap (still have 2 more years), 3) sell the car.

I go for 3rd option. Currently expecting my another ride coming.
