E90 320i rear reading lights

There is no individual control for the rear reading lights, according to PML, cannot be upgraded like those on 323i, 325i or 330i. Can anyone comment if this is true? How and where can I install? Thanks..

Hi,
I've DIY my 320i with the rear dome light (with switch, same like 330).
Managed to have the following working but not the left/right map reading lights,
1) Ambient light (two orange LED same as the front) when the car head light is turned on.
2) The center light, by the rear swtich or control from the front console or door opening (as per before).

The rear dome light is control by the front dome light.
If you remove the front dome light, you will see a few connectors, there is only one white (20 pins, only two wires) connector. You will need to run new wires (8 wires) from this connector (white) to the rear dome light connector (8 pins).
Followed the connection as followed (took me lots of try and error... ),

Front Connector -> Rear Connector
Pin 20 -> Pin 3
Pin 19 ->
Pin 18 ->
Pin 17 -> Pin 4
Pin 16 ->
Pin 15 -> Pin 5
Pin 14 ->
Pin 13 -> Pin 6

I will work on the rear left/right map reading light, will update if successful.

thanks for the updates, do you have the Part number for the rear dome light? How much does it cost?

Hi, you can find the part number (item 12) at this link => RealOEM.COM   BMW E90 320i VARIOUS INTERIOR LIGHTS

Please make sure you check what is the color of the original rear dome light.
