Hi all,

need any advise all can offer.

One month back, morning. From ca park drove out. Barely 200m, car was vibrating furiously, and engine die off. No error code. Tried restarting few times. no help. finally, it can start, but jerky, and no power. have to trottle hard to make it move jerkingly. Got tow truck. sent to work shop.
Dianostic shows: Crankshaft and Camshaft input error co-relation

Check Crankshaft sensor, Camshaft input and output sensor. Clean. and car seems ok again.

three days ago. Morning, drove car out from carpark. Same thing happen. Car vibrating furiously including chassis. Throttle hard to continue to move car. At one turning junction, car even die off. Restart a few time, finally ok. stop car for ten minutes, re-started. seems ok but felt uneasy driving. Use manual mode to rev car and drove to workshop. Check error code with dianostic - shows same error like last time. Decided to change Crankshaft and two camshaft sensor - all 3.
Seems ok again.

Today, same thing happen. Drove out carpark, less then 100m, car die off. re-started car. manual rev to wrokshop. Same error but with additional cylinder mis-fire messages Now no clue. Hard to pin point problem. Not possible coil as no error on it. Not mounting. Maybe chain tension? Fuel pump? Car just fully serviced - ALL oil changed. Spark plus new.

Any guys can help or have experience? Workshop i used is an already well known bmw expert, hence, really need as many leads as much as possible. Please advise. Thanks bro.

BTW, car is stock when first error happen. even now, not much modification. The only performance related is KNN and exhaust. The rest are cosmetics or handling.

Re: E90 325 vibration and engine die off

Hi There,

Having almost similar problem. Last week, was late for work so didn't warm up the car and drove off immediately. The car didn't move off smoothly and was very jerky. I stopped the car for a few mins to warm up the car and then move off without any problem. The following day after work, drove out of office car park and was stuck in jam immediately, car suddenly stalled. Had a shock, quickly restarted and drove to workshop. Initially suspected battery or alternator but a check indicated that all was fine. No error messages also when running diagnoistics. Think same workshop we went to cos the mechanic there was telling me another car recently had similar problems. Told me to leave the car there for them to check but i didnt. Am thinking of doing so when i am on leave. The jerky start happended a few times after and it only happens if i dont warm up the car and drive off immediately in the mornings. There was even once when i went to petrol station car wash and was waiting in the queue in Neutral when the car stalled again.Wonder whats wrong...Sianz

Perhaps you can check your car's fuel pump.

Re: E90 325 vibration and engine die off

i am no mechanic, but here are my 2 cents worth on engine dying.
1. could be aiflow sensor breakdown.
2. fuel pump.
3. ignition coils.

but since you guys mentioned that only in cold engine...then it sort of throws everything wide open.

Re: E90 325 vibration and engine die off

[updates:

a) spoke to our experience workshop guys. dont think is fuel pump as noterrors prmpt, plus drive was ok if nothing happens. Its very intermittent.

but what i did was to google the error message from the dianostic tool. there was some discussion in bimmerfest + e90 post. Inside there was mentioned from BMW service bulletin about such errors. And they did indicate about Valve soleniods being dirty ec. and it was a technical instructions for their workshops to clean it if such errors occur.

Hence, did a clean on saturday on the 2 valve soleniod sensors (since b4 already change carnks and cam sensors). Till now, touchwood, seems fine. Next time it happens, will check the soleniods again, and might replace if needed.

Think quite make sense if dirt on soleniods can cause intermitent contacts hence intermitent problems (especially maybe soleniods not warm up yet ?)

Good to hear you solved it, now we have another KB, incase somebody has the same problem.
btw, did you check with PML? its a service bulletin i can't believe PML did not pick that up., its almost a cardinal sin for a dealer not knowing a service bulletin.

yeah. a complete list of error codes just like Microsoft bugs list

Sorry to hear that. I can feel the pain,..........coz mine just KENA two weeks ago :verysad: , at the left front. Kerbed at the egde (a scar of abt 10 cm long). Curse like hell... One of the problem I had is my tyre side does not cover up the edge of rim, so it just a matter of time my rim will be kerbed one day. So finally if happened 11 months later...:verysad:
