E90 defects list

i am starting this thread to list down some of the defect on the E90.
my E90 Production was July 2005. chassis no. last 5 digi 1XXXX.

why i put down the chassis no. , is my guess some of you with other defects may be on the diff production line, got a friend with chassis no. last 5 digi 2XXXX. also july 2005 production has more defects than mine.

my defect are minor compareing with others (PML are replacing all my defect when the parts arrive in 3 weeks time). hopefully this list may help other E90 owner in their quest with PML or BMW and get their defects replaced or fixed.

here is my list.

1. rear windscreen rubber strip keeps poping out. (replaced by PML or BMW).
2. driver seat belt point near center console creeking. (parts order to be replace).
3. front cup holder near driver-side jam. (parts order to replace).
4. front driver interior door titan trim fitting un-even. (parts order to replace, PML is replacing the complete interior door & titan trim).

other than the above list i am very happy with the car.

Hi Guys

mine was March production and the chasis is also 1XXXX

My problem is
1. DSC sensor (reported 1 month ago and part just arrived)

Overall, I am very happy with the car.

I have a friend who got his E90 in Oct and the car stalled in the middle of the road after driving for 1 week. The problem still happened after replacing the part and now the car is still with PML.

Here's my list.
Chasis number: 1xxxx
Production : don't know but collected car in Jul

1. Wind noise - improved after some sealant on front windscreen but still annoying when speed goes above 110 kmph

2. Windscreen wiper - no improvement despite repeated polishing by PML (not wax) and blade replacement. Scrub with newspaper as well. Don't know what to do next.

3. Rattling noise near third brake light - 3 visits to PML, still no resolution.

4. Erratic rpm during idle - just discovered last Friday.

Will have to make appointment to go back once again. Unlike some of you guys, your problems have been identified and parts have been ordered. So there is light at the end of the tunnel. As for some of my problems, PML is not sure what to do next. Like many of you, I still like the E90 very much. Just that my expectation for BMW is very high and they dissappoint in the areas (wind noise, wipers, etc) that a Japanese car at half the price would perform better. That's hard to swallow.

here is mine,

1. driver side leather seat scratched. waiting for replacement
2. centre aircon vent fins broken. waiting for replacement
3. wheels not balanced from day one. steering vibrates at 80kmh, rectified.
4. brake give out loud rubbing sound at the point of stopping or ar the point of moving off. (have not inform pml yet)
5. power steering not returning to centre fast . highligted, and advised by pml to wait till after break in
6. lurch or jerk forward when coming to a stop. pml technician confirmed the problem and suspect the transmission is shifting down from 2 to 1 causing the jerk. will try to do something, but have not done so.
7. clicking sound coming driver side b pillar or back passenger door. seems to be common problem, have not highlighted to pml yet. will do so when doin the the rest at one go
8. just realised yesterday that the gear shifting from 1 to 2 and to 3 is quite jerky especially if i am not stepping very hard on the accelerator.

mine's a 1XXXX as well... think i've mentioned my 1st defect in a previous thread :

1. Svc counter increases instead of decreases. it went up to 35,000km then dropped back to 34,000km. My mileage is only at 5,000km so far. PML still has no solutin.

2. Initial air flow after switching on aircon smells bad. will be bringing to PML to do chemical wash as soon as they hv replacement vehicle...

3. Wiper squeaky, havent informed PML yet.

MY E90 PERFECT guys!!!! my E90 is resgistered on the 23 SEP 2005.So far no problem.....touch wood!!!!

Mine:
1. clicking sound on the seat belt (b pillar) for both front passengers.
2. clicking sound from the aircon. Still trying to zoom down if it is really coming from aircon.

Due to bring my car to PML on monday to fix both.

Chasis number starts with 1xxxx (last 5 digits). not sure on how to check the production date.

Lets see..

1) car stalled twice in the first week
2) engine give out loud rattling noise
3) valvetronic failure
4) Abs failure
5) aircon failure
6) dynamic driving control failure
7) back seat air con lever spoilt ( just realised yesterday when i'm cleaning the back )
8) front seat air con lever spoilt
9) wheels not balanced
10) power steering not returning to centre fast .
11) rubber from the windscreen is down
12) car jerk quite abit when coming to a stop
13) car auto lock while engine is running
14) power cut off while moving off
15) car seat shift to memory two while driving halfway

workshop seems to be my second home. got my car in July. i'm waiting for them to quote me a price in changing a new car or upgrade to 325i since 16th of Nov !!!

JEFFREY LAU, AFTERSALES MANAGER of KAMPONG ARANG WORKSHOP seems to avoiding my calls. his secretary always say he's in meeting and will ask him call back but never or she will tell me that he's busy at the moment and will ask him call me back but still never..

been trying to call till now !

Hi Motofish,

I remember reading somewhere in another thread that you experienced some movement of the vehicle even after you engage the handbrake when stationary. Has this problem been solved yet?

I just realised that my ride has the same problem. My CSA said that this is normal and that it is a safety feature, coz there is an additional 'locking' mechanism, so the wheel will travel a little until it gets 'locked'. I'm wondering whether this movement will damage the gearbox in the long run especially when the gear is in P position.

Hi Jooggie,

No, not really. I may have got used to it as it does not bother me too much now but its definitely still there. PML told me the same thing and I read in E90post and several forum members registered the same problems and some juz left it along. Long term effect is unknown.

While I accept the slight jerking after coming to a full stop as 'characteristics' of the car, there are several outstandings that I will not let them go easily until they fixed the problems (i.e. wind noise, crazy wipers and flustuacting RPM). PML is not getting away with a characteristics of the car excuse.

Unfortunately, many of us had our share poor service and bad experiences with PML and the 'ultimate driving machine'. I used to pull my hair out talking to some of the guys in the workshop. I have to also say that I have been served by some (rare) good CSA, Paul in KG is one of them. He does not have the answers to the problems but at least he is honest with me and had the patient to listen to me, returning calls in late in the evening and we tried to work out a viable solution (even if its trial and error). I guess what I really want to say is that we have made a huge investment in the car and bashing PML for the terrible customer service is not going to help us very much since I doubt they are serious about making any improvements. It would be better investing your time on developing a relationship with a good CSA, with trust and respect both ways. I hope that we get the problems iron out and enough our rides better, eventually.

Sorry for the long post, beginning to sound like I am preaching. don't mistaken me for someone from PML. My friend Janson knows all too well the troubles I have with the car since Jul 05 and the service rendered to me earier by less than professional folks in PML.
