E90 xenons

Hi everyone,

Just wondering whether anyone here has done an E90 xenon retrofit (whether at PML or otherwise). Looking at the facelifted lights has re-ignited my interest in getting xenons. Feel the car is incomplete without proper corona rings.

The PML price so far has been a real put off, especially in the present times.

Grateful if anyone can share their views.

I think this is going to be an ongoing issue, I just hope one day someone can find a decent solution rather than going to PML and spending 5k on xenon + corona rings + headlight washer + assembly. It's ridiculous :/

My little flirt with the taiwan made assembly thing from jlevisw.com was a nightmare, luckily i managed to get my refund. Will be great if a local dealer has something similar.

I spoke with Mike and it seems the price is not that far off from PMLs, with the PML 20% discount. Might be a few hundred bucks cheaper without the headlight washer, but it seems that each headlight costs $1.8k alone. So I guess no cheap option to get corona rings.

I found an option online, from e90post. This chap is selling at 1.8k for two german bmw oem headlights with projector and corona rings.

I'm unsure whether i should splurge this amount :/ for projector and corona rings, but i think it's definitely much cheaper than pml.

Exercise caution when buying headlamp-related stuff - frequently these are not interchangeable between LHD and RHD cars. Headlamps are angled away from oncoming traffic so RHD and LHD cars have their headlamps angled in opposite directions.

I have not specifically checked up on these that you found, but you might wanna do so before comitting to anything...

Just sharing the following message I got from PML regarding the bi-xenon headlights. I therefore conclude that it is not worth the money.

Dear Mr XXX,

Thank you for your email.

With regards to your enquiry, the Retrofit Bi-Xenon Headlights cost $5849.29 (inclusive of installation & 7% GST). There will also be a LTA inspection charges on top of the it. Estimated around $80. Total Installation time will take 3 days including sending for LTA inspection. All parts have to be special indent from factory, estimate delivery time is 2 weeks. If you are interested, you will have to fill up a customer's order form & a deposit payment at the Parts & Accessories counter.

Yup, the quote sounds about right. It reduces to $5.4k when they have 20% discount on parts. It's really expensive as a retrofit and difficult to justify.

I'm also waiting to see whether the facelift standard halogen corona ring headlights can be retrofitted and are any cheaper.

At least with PML you are guaranteed the full complete retrofit and under warranty. Not sure if that's worth the extra dollar or not, you decide.

As far as I know, you can buy the light fittings cheap from the States but then you'll need proper wiring harnesses and connectors for the retrofit to work. I know coz I'm mucking around with my own retrofit for my e64.

Given the quotes I got so far, I'll probably go with PML if I get the lights. Definitely not paying $5k to have them fail on me without warranty cover!
