UPDATED with new features coded.
Hi everyone, I'd like to test the interest in the coding of E9X cars.
MODERATORS, please advise if this is the right thread to post in...
I've recently managed to code my car with the following options;
1. Always-on instrument cluster lights (with light switch in 0 position, DRL on or off) - this drove me nuts for the longest time as most modern cars already have this feature...
2. Aircon set to internal re-circulation PERMANENTLY (another one of my top wishes, finally discovered and coded! note that the car will still open the vents after a few minutes [likely for safety, to allow internal air to 'equalize' with external air... however, the setting is retained so on engine start, the vents will move back to a 'closed' position)
3. Double blink hazard lights (more visible)
4. Digital speed display (engine speed, different from speedo speed)
5. Folding mirrors activated from key fob (i discovered that this can also be activated from the door handle, if comfort access is present. just press and hold! )
6. auto-dimming side mirrors disabled. although center rear view mirror will still dim, somehow it feels less than before. side mirrors no longer dim when bright lights from behind are detected. this used to bother me as old motorbikes with weak headlights could not be seen with dimmed side mirrors...
7. warm check on angel eyes and reversing lights disabled. prevents flickering when starting car due to the use of LED bulbs.
8. windows will now roll up continuously with door open after a single full switch. This was originally disabled for 'safety' but I've found it annoying especially on passenger side, when they arrive (and I'm waiting with windows down), I want to quickly roll up both windows.
9. Disabled Tail Lights when Daytime Running Lights are turned on. This is the current 'trend' for most conti cars.
I did this with a cable and software from BMTechnic.com (NOTE, BMTechnic has closed down likely due to copyright issues. our bro PixelBug has gone the DIY way and succeeded too)
as you'll read online, there's a whole bunch of features we can code on our cars, but it's a lot of work (and risk) to find the right values.
Is anyone out there also keen to try this out?
A larger group of people looking at it will reveal more info on where we can code.
Shops will charge 80 to 100$ PER FEATURE and i've already recouped my cost on the cable...
let me know your thoughts....
