Finally successfully coded my car with some interesting features:
1) Digital speed display on instrument cluster
2) DRL with License Plate lights
3) AE as DRL (having issue using my BC to activate, finally get it working with coding)
The cable is cheap at about US$20, the coding software is free on the internet. The coding process takes less than 5mins to code if you find the right code and know what you are doing. Previously, I get Munich to disabled the seat belt alarm, and central locking when the car is travelling, and they charge me $80plus for it!
The most challenging part is actually getting the software to run on the laptop. It took me 1 week to get the coding software running on my laptop, and 3 days to successfully code my first features
There is actually all kind of interesting codes available for E39/E46/E60/E70/E71/E90, F10/F20/F25/F30. Some of the features has already stated in this thread.
Other features like:
Convenience
•Start the engine without having foot on the brake
•Enable / Disable seatbelt butlers
•Do not automatically turn on AC when climate control is set to Auto
•Make wipers wipe to the end when engine is switched off
•Display Digital Speedometer in the cluster
•Display instant MPG in the cluster
•Fuel Tank reserve warning comes on at 1/8th tank or of ¼ tank
•Instrument cluster lighting always on
Doors, Windows, Sunroof, Mirrors
•Turn off the annoying Door Dong
•Close windows / sunroof with Keyfob
•Unlock all doors or just drivers door when key is removed from ignition
•Disable / Enable Auto dim mirrors
•Disable windows safety feature (opening door does not stop windows)
•Fold side mirrors with Keyfob
•Auto close sunroof on rain from full open (has warnings)
•Auto close sunroof on rain from tilt
Entertainment
•TV in motion at any time
•DVD in Motion at any time (complex)
•Enables DVD playback when car is stopped regardless of what gear but not in motion.
•Select CIC audio outputs (for use with external amplifier)
Gongs and Dongs
•Turn off seat belt chimes
•Turn off the annoying Door Dong
•Enable / Disable display and gong when key is left in ignition
HVAC
•Do not automatically turn on AC when climate control is set to Auto
•Enable REST (residual heating) function with the ALL button
•Enable parked car ventilation option
iDrive
•Lock / Unlock Beep option in iDrive (enables submenu in iDrive)
•Allow control of auto lights and rain sensor in iDrive
•Disable iDrive legal warning
•Add submenu to iDrive to enable Daytime Running Lights (DRL)
•iDrive default screen → Communications or Entertainment or Navigation
•Show and propose fuel stops in iDrive navigation
