hi

Recently my engine immediately dies off after ignition. I have to restart a few times before it finally revs up properly.. what should I do?

Any recommended workshop for BMW servicing and repairs?

hmm..sounds like what i had to deal with a while ago....i checked out the following items:

- idle controls
- fuel pump
- fuel pressure regulator
- injectors...

strangely..after cleaning out the idle control valve and putting everything back again..it was ok!...i guess the principles the same, though mines an E36..

or heck..just haul it into one of the workshops listed..:)..

Had this problem in the past and present :shoot:

Apparently its the Idle control valve giving problems.

Its a common problem with the prefl 318i

Try getting it serviced before replacing it, might save you some money ;)

Hi,

I have the same problem couple of months back and it is the fault of Idling control valve. It cost me about $300 to have it replaced.

It is a common problem for this model.

Thanks

thx guys! will get the workshop to check on the idle ctls during the next servicing..

Had the same problem with my pre F/L 318i as well, changed the idle valve (cost me about 600 bucks) and everything was fine thereafter

sent down to bvo to check it out and also do my servicing.. clocked 70,000km oredi..

seems like the problem is not the timing valve, but sth called the breather valve..

anyway now is ok and I'm ready to drive in to Msia :)

Don't bother troubleshooting. Just replace idle valve and air filter. You'll be fine after that.

got the same problem.
After service the idle valve by BVO, still encountered emgine dies off frequently.

Had replace the idle valve. BUT still face the same problem during starting?

What to do next?
