Engine Oil Change

Hi Bros & Sis,

I am a newbie for conti cars. I was advised by the sales person in PML that my first engine oil change is at 12,000km. However, I was advised by others to do my engine oil change at 2,000km. Any advise on this and how much is it to do first oil change for 320i FL in PML. Also, any ideas what brand and type of engine oil does PML use. Can I bring my own engine oil for them to change? hi throttle, 10 to 12k before engine oil change is fine. what u wanna avoid is changin it at 20k. that way engine sludge.

1st servicing oil change at PML is $280 inclusive of labour. they use castrol synthetic oil. u can bring ur own oil and they will only charge u labout which is bout $80. of cos if anything goes wrong with engine, fingers might be pointed at ur engine oil.

Thanks for the reply. Anyways, I was recommended by a friend to use X-Rev Engine Oil. Don't know if this kind of oil suits our rides? Heard of this brand before? It claims to have zero friction. Any advise? Thanks.

never heard of it. zero friction? hows that possible? hehe. if u have to check that the properties and viscosity of the oil are similiar if not better than the castrol ones to cover ur own rear.

The "others" you mentioned, do they sell oil one?

My suggestion is it should be between 15k to 20k.

bear in mind the reccommended is 12k, but if car computer prompts, then its time to bring it in if sooner than 12k.

10k - 12k should be the ideal range. Once engine oil contaminated and become sludge, it will affect the millage and engine performace.

i just bought a 2009 318i (1888km done), can i know if it is advisable to change the engine oil? i am thinking of just changing it outside at any petrol station. Can anyone tell me if its alrite? Many thanks for your assistance.

Mileage very low for 2009 My advise go ahead and change as soon as possible then next change 5-6K then every 10-12K, You take care the engine they will take of you,

don't have to go to PML on 5-6K oil change, either to BVO or Juzz 4 Car, Then to PML at 10-12K for peace of mind on the warranty deal,

If u want to go petrol station make sure they got the right oil filter. If not u can go Eng Soon and buy one.

I noticed my engine warning light show up - mileage ard 10100km, purchase a 1L engine oil to top up as interim before sending for svcing as told by SE. was thinking to send in just before 12k is it advisable?
