Engine Oil Consumption For E66

Hi all,

Need to ask for views. I have been clocking 2000km on my car and i have notice the engine oil lvl dropping. My question is, judging from the picture, is it normal to drop 1/4. Do I have to manually top up engine oil.

U shd wait until the OBC prompts you to top up then do it (top up 1 litre). Over topping of engine oil will results in engine premature failure

This is exactly what I hear from the SA. The advice is to top up around 4000 to 5000km in between intervals.

I am very curious on why is there such a requirement, or such issues happening. In my jap cars, I have never face such top ups requirements. Engine oil is always at the sufficient level.

My previous car was a conti, and also doesnt have this requirement.

So far i know BMW and Audi.VW have to top up oil.

Hw about Mercs? Any MB owners can share if oil consumption is a common problem in the MBs?

Never owned a conti before but all my Japs do not need top up unless there is a leakage.
