Engine oil issues (F10 535i)

Hi guys,

I have 2 questions I hope you can advise me.

1. Is it normal for the oil level to drop from Full to 1/4 above Min after travelling 5000km from last service?

2. Where is the dip stick in a F10 535i?

1. Shouldnt be dropping so much... Wat oil you using?

2. No dipstick... Dipstick is on your idrive

but seriously, you got to send your ride for a check, probably a leak somewhere. should not lose so much oil

I seldom drive my car very hard, only occassionally for a short distance.

First time hear such problem for F10.... Muz go check up....use yr idrive to go into the system checks...in the first place how u know it has reduced if you dont know where to check the oil level? Hmmmm....

Btw, it takes a few seconds before the oil level will come up and be shown on yr system check in yr idrive....

Are you checking on level ground? Hear say ground level can affect reading, though probably not by that much.

Got check for any leakage?

Update.

Went to MA this morning, SA checked my car and informed me that everything was in order. No leakage or abnormalities. According to him, it's normal for 535i to burn engine oil faster. And I only need to top up when iDrive tells me to do so, otherwise I may overfill the engine.

And lastly, 535i doesn't have any dip stick.

i'm driving a F10 535i and what i've realised since driving it is that engine oil will be drained alot quicker if you're heavy on the throttle. if not should be just fine! cheer!

Ok, that explains the drop.

I've been driving slightly harder than usual lately....haha!

from the last two engine oil service, it takes about 8000Km from full service to the engine oil top up warning.

Engine oil issues (F10 535i)

Seems this is the characteristic of turbo cars. I used to drive the VW Golf GTI and I have to top up the engine oil every 2 months or so. Thinking it was some leak, I sent to Volkswagen Center Singapore and the Tech Advisor told me it's normal because the engine is so hot the oil evaporates.

I didn't have engine oil issues with my WRX, Legacy, Copen and Cooper S.

This is a first for me too!

I drive 9k+ km since last service. I should be expecting an top-up soon, but i check my idrive oil level it is still 4/5 full.

I believed it is the engine oil u used, that determines whether needs top up.

i drives a F10, 520i, using castrol 5w-30 recommended.. No need top up even
after 10K km.. engine oil still full..

However my friend using thinner oil, and he claims engine much smoother,
will need top up, as it will evaporate more..

See what you want from engine, my view..
