Hi all,

My E60 520I have prompt me to top up 1 litre of engine oil. After i have top up 1 liter of engine oil, two week later it prompt me again to top up 1 litre of engine oil. It this normal?
I have bring my car to mbm workshop to check and they recommend me to overhaul the engine.

I bought this car about 3month ago.
Can i claim the overhaul engine serivce from car dealer?

Hope to hear from you all.
Many Thanks

Gotta action soon bro before the Lemon Law looses its effect after 6months* ... i think. Thereafter it will really be LL for you already. Bring to a garage and haul your car up. All the answers to leakages are hidden beneath.

Good luck and all the best.

Thanks flagship1974 & Terence.

But the car dealer say is not cover in the lemon law and he say is other thing cos this problem. also ask for me 50/50 cost for the repair.

Happened to my E60 as well
If there is no visible oil stains on the floor after parking overnight, then it is leaking internally to the engine combustion area.

To check, start the engine after parking for a long time, leave idling for 10-15min.
Ram the accelerator hard (at P or Neutral!!!!) and hold
Have someone observe the exhaust. If lots of white smoke is bellowing out, then it is a clear sign that engine oil has seeped into the combustion area.

Main culprit was worn out valve seals. Spare parts about $30~40 (cannot remember), labour was about $200 at one of the site sponsor.
Of course it could be other things like worn out gaskets, pistons etc

Top- overhaul will set you back about S$3K+ (which probably include change of valve seals as well), but why not try changing the valve seals first and see the results before committing to an engine overhaul.

Bro, I had the same experience for my previous E60. When it reaches this stage to top up every weeks, its most likely engine overhaul. Mine also reached this stage to top up every 2 weeks. Changed all the other items like gasket, valves, and many other things and eventually settled after an overhaul. Mine is owing to worn piston rings which resulted in internal engine oil leaks out from exhaust (your exhaust should be wet. Normal should be dusty). Overall cost me near $5K to settle it. Luckily pistons are ok to reuse, if not easily $3K more. Sorry, I'm not technical but that's how things are explained to me.

Your car mileage high? If low, it might be tampered with. So just be careful.

All the best.

Thanks Citizen69 and Sebsg.

My mileage is 80K

Bro, suggest you go pml and try retrieve the last servicing record to check the mileage. Hope it helps. Recently got case for tampered mileage and the buyer won the case.
