I have a similar problem with my F10 523i 2 months ago, I replaced the alternator it does not solve it. At the end, I have to replace the DME. I hope your problem is not the same as mine. I have a spare alternator with Top93, you can go and try it to see whether it solve your problem. You can sms me at 98191432 if you are interested.

Lucky for you, this means alternator is gone. You can get a original BMW alternator from Eng Soon, the price is around $870.00. I have a pre-owned alternator that I removed from my car which in good condition. If you are interested you can give me a call.

Have the car diagnosed. It will tell you if it's indeed the battery, alternator or what's not.

How did you know your DME failed? As in what symptoms did the car show?

1) Fault Codes : CD9304 Bit serial data interface, signal: communication fault
2) Oil Level: Measurement inactive. Service interval adjusted. Unable to reset
3) Idle RPM at 1000, normal is around 600-700
With the above fault the car still can be used

Few weeks back was quoted $300+ from ES for the E60 model. Maybe an OEM version. In the end, got a pre-owned piece and changed for a total of RM900 as alternator died on the malaysia side of the causeway!!!!!
