F10 stupid radio qns

Hi bro, I realised my radio will not turn over even if I off my engine. It will only go off when I lock the door. Is this a default setting or can I programme it?

Also apart from pressing the volume button to mute the radio/cd, can I mute it from the steering control?

If you off your engine and you press the on/off button again without stepping on the brakes, it will turn off the entire system. .. Not sure if that's what you want.

For some drivers, they may not leave their cars immediately after they have off their cars engines. To these drivers, it is good to keep the radio on still until they finally leaves their cars (ie. when they locked their cars).

It is a user-freindly default feature by BMW.

But I noticed that when I stopped my car after driving, I pressed the on/off button once, the engine will off and radio is still on. Therefore I open the door, listen to the radio and waiting to pick someone. BUT, after a short duration, everything is off. Without stepping the brake, I press the on/off again, radio is on AND so is the aircon. At this moment, I hv to turn off the Aircon. After all these, then I can wait as long as I can and the car won't off.

And when I unlock my car, press the on/off ( without stepping brake), the radio will be on until I off it.

You can go to the iDrive, under Setting, to change the steering control button to whatever desired features.

All your observations tally exactly with my experiences in my ride...so if we want to switch off radio after stopping engine, we need to either press the start/stop button again or simply lock the car.

I guess it is a BMW user-friendly feature that everything (including radio) switched off after some time (in case driver forgot to turn them off).

I believe the radio will turn off after a while by itself after you off the engine assuming you don't lock the door. If you want to turn off immediately, press the engine start/stop button again without pressing on the brakes.

Can also press the start/stop button for 2 seconds instead of 1 sec.

The radio system is not off after you off your engine coz in some countries you need to off your engine once u park your car. However, if you are on the phone while parking your car, and still on the phone after completing the park, you can still talk on the phone after ceasing your engine.

Yes, default by manufacturer
