And not to mention like some people who curb their rims - ouch

Hi there.

The wipers are designed to be slightly tucked under the bonnet to reduce drag and wind noise.
Perhaps you can either use the wiper replacement mode (pull the wiper stalk on your steering wheel beyond the resistance point after the engine is switched off or protect the edge of your bonnet with a protector.

Having had a new F10 for less than a week, I find the car is great; except for the design of the front windscreen wipers.

I feel very strongly that the wiper arms are badly designed. In their normal parked position, when they are hinged outwards, away from the glass, they can come into contact with the rear edge of the bonnet. If and when this happens with enough force the wiper arms can be bent and become distorted, and the bonnet paintwork will also suffer damage.

What do all you bros and sis' say?

Hi BMW Bros

There is a Wiper service mode position that you need to engage to access the wiper blade. The PML SA did not know how to engage this mode until I shown them and they were surprise..!! I discover this when I own my VW Passat previously. The F10 have this service mode too.

Here is what I did to get to the Wiper service mode.

1) While in "Park". Stop the engine by pressing the start/stop button engine twice (Do not engage the brake or your start the engine again on the 2nd push of the button)

2) Within 5 secs, push the wiper level (Right level) on your steering column to up position and hold this position for 5 sec.

3) The Wiper will shift up and stop at the service position.

That's it..

You can now move the wiper blades from the windscreen to change your wiper.

Once you change your wiper blade, remember to fold back onto the windscreen.

Start your car as per normal and tab the wiper level on your steering column and it goes back to bonnet....

try it....It is the same with VW.

Best regards

Kel

I'm not surprised that the PML SA does not know about this, since changing the wipers is not their JOB.
But convincing you to pay a lot more $$$ to change your wiper with PML is their JOB. :)

If the technicians are not aware of this, that would be the greatest joke of the day.

For those not aware of the above steps, it's also available in your iDrive.
