F20 - Software Update

Hi F20 folks - I downloaded from www.bmw.com/update a new software update for our CIC

Supporting new iphone IOS 5 and BlackBerry OS 6.xx

You need to key in your 7 Digit VIN number. Then the site will fetch the correct software for your car.

Will this work with bmw apps on iphone. I tried the bmw connected apps but it can't connect to the car. Seem that it is not available for our market.

I'm trying tonight also...this software update also improves performance for USB connected devices when playing music..now I start my car have to wait Zzzzz before it start playing..so hopefully it helps...I've loaded the screen of the web site also.

The software update is better for usb/ipod/bluetooth interface i.e: you can select and play the song you want via idrive lcd, not like last time you have to wait the song plays by itself on random basis. However, I couldn't connect BWM Connected iphone Apps to the car to login facebook, to use webradio... So sure that it is not available for our market.

The software update is better for usb/ipod/bluetooth interface i.e: you can select and play the song you want via idrive lcd, not like last time you have to wait the song plays by itself on random basis. However, I couldn't connect BWM Connected iphone Apps to the car to login facebook, to use webradio... So sure that it is not available for our market.

I just upgraded the software....it's faster in terms of connecting to devices , USB ...my Blackberry 9900 is now recognize and I can select songs to play back via idrive..Ipone connect is not available ...but it's better in terms of getting the songs out on the iDrive...

How to upgrade?

1. Get a USB drive..
2. Go to www.bmw.com/update
3. Select international (English)
4. Key in your VIN no.
5. Download the software into USB...(check the box to accept terms of use)
6. start your car...make sure in stationary ...ie don't drive off , insert your USB
7. Go to menu , select settings, scroll all the way down to system update.
8. Click on update software..and wait ....
9. Current version 003.004.031
10. Upgraded version 003.005.004

Hi - I've attached a Pitcure to look for your VIN number...Its on the left side (Driver Side) and when you key in the 7 digit VIN Number its the last 7 Alphanumeric number on it..
Eg WBA1A12040H123456 then you VIN number is H123456

Hi - Reversion

Some folks worried about multi-media not working after upgrade..The system actually stores the previous version after upgrading the software..So you can revert to previous version if Stuff don't work well.

But so far so good on my car..this morning while driving I can just call out the songs on my Blackberry 9900 via iDrive..but I forgot to plug the phone into the charger..so battery 25% gone when I reach office..:wavey:

Attention!!

Please don't Drive off or Switch Off the Car During the Upgrade....Else your iDrive will be corrupted...it will be painful :nutkick:

Hi F20 Folks -

Some update on Ipone Connected Apps - ie Using Web, Mesages etc.. Seems you need to buy the S$300+ iPone Adaptor - I call up PML Assesories dept..but they not sure..so I will need to find out more and update this thread...if any F20 folks have bought the iPhone Adaptor, please update here as well..Thanks

Don't think the adaptor will make difference as it is like the cable, just connect the phone to the car but the car didn't recognize the Apps due to some software settings. I heard that if there is no navigation then we can't use the Apps however I can't verify.

Ok Some Updates...With this version of the upgrade..Some phones have all the functions and some only SMS. :juggle:

BMW Office : SMS, Calander, Task , Notes.

Phones that work 100% With BMW Office

1. HTC One X
2. Motorola Razr
3. Sony C901/902/903/905/J105/7715/U51/W508/W902/W995
4. Nokia 6303,3720,6700,N97,E72,E75,E71,X6

Phones that work with SMS , but the rest need to download apps. $19.50 eg calendar , task

1. Black Berry 9900

Phones that only works for SMS

1. Samsung SII, SIII


Unfortunately for F20 software release..in this region..iPhone , 3GS, 4, 4S does not work with
BMW Office...

It should be the next release....
