guys i did mention elsewhere

creaking doors use talcumpowder. that will solve all of it.

Thanks bro, I tried talcum powder but that lasted for one week and the creakings came back... Driven all kinds of Japanese cars for the last 20 years, I've never had such a 'problem', but once 'upgrade' to a bimmer, I have to deal with such a 'low tech' issue. A little disappointed and I want to solve it quickly and be done with it.... Without having to replace the seals, the next best option seems to be sticking the anti-slip tape along the doors.

I'm back!! Literally drove 100km today!! Can't get enough of the pleasure of driving the 320i....

Here's what I did today: Changed to a set of 19" wheels and accompanied with Michelin PSS tyres, and coming from a Japanese car, I didn't know one can have different tyre profile. So I went with the recommendation of 235/35 in front and 265/30 in the rear. It's only a short while since I have the car, so I can't really make a fair comparison, but my butt says the ride feels firmer and more 'solid' (for a lack of a better word), the cornering response is excellent.

I don't think I want to add the Sprint Booster or do any ECU tuning, I'm happy with the pickup and the acceleration (even on the 19 incher).

And I also realise there is no spare tyre in the car!! And then I started to read up on run flats.... always something to learn....

Driving on the expressway at night, with music coming from the sound system, has always been my most relaxing moments, absolutely therapeutic for me....

Next thing to do is the HID, then I think it's complete....

me had the same tyre set up as you.
did ECU tuning yesterday, paper shows increase in torque and bhp, but my butt-nometer tells me otherwise, as for fuel efficiency, after @ 100km driving, about the same as before... kindda regret doing the tuning, should have saved the $ or get a set of coilover instead.

Re: First day with the E90 320i

Hi,

Would appreciate if someone could advice how to check that used car is not a lemon? Go for STA / Vicom check? My assumption is that PPSL is best but need to pay a premium over other sellers. Thanks.

Re: First day with the E90 320i

jchong,

I got my E90 about 3 mths ago. Sharing my experience here...

1. STA/Vicom check may not be the best option. Perhaps you can go to your own trusted workshop (with BMW specialist) or one of the panel workshops in this forum, for a fee of course.
2. Get the workshop to examine thoroughly, and list down all things that need to be replaced, regardless of defects or wear n tear, and provide an estimated quote.
3. Negotiate with the used car dealer to fix the issues before u agree to sign on the paper. The dealers will definitely try to negotiate co-pay, so depends on your negotiation skills.
4. Look up this forum in detail - there're many threads on what to look out for before committing to a used BMW. Major ones are engine oil leaks, auto transmission/gearbox, radiator cooling system.
5. Finally, insert a clause to say that dealer is responsible for pre-existing defects as per Lemon Law. This is stating the obvious but it does give some support when u need to go back when there're hidden defects not discovered during the check.

Re: First day with the E90 320i

Re: First day with the E90 320i
