I used Mobil 0W40 on my E60 but 4000 to 5000km will prompt for 1 litre top up

Then change to Mobil 5W50 became 6000 to 7000km prompt for the litre top up

Maybe thicker oil will burn slower cos same Driver and same Engine huh...

Please enlighten me Brother!

Generally true.... =)
Also, the theory is that thicker oil tends to DEGRADE engine performance (though by only a tad bit), as the moving parts have to fight greater resistance due to the thicker oil..... Think of swimming in a swimming pool of water vs swimming in a mud pool.... =P

Re: First time car service

After trying both castrol and mobil one ... I prefer the castrol one as need not much time to warm up and go ...

Mobil one has to take several minutes before it is ready to take off ....

But on the road more or less on par ...

Senior, I have tried ma castrol 5w 35 n Mobil one 5w 40...
Morning when start car, castrol is faster cause after 3 puffs of cigarette n the rpm drops to idling levels which in my case is 600-700... N I just step bit to roll the car out n then a slow run...

Mobil one usually would be when I smoke finish ...

But Mobil one is better smoother ...

Castrol is like more raw...

Re: First time car service

I changed to Liqui Moly at 12000 km at PML. You can bring any oil in.
I used Castrol in the past and now trying out Liqui Moly.
