Just installed the Focal BMW Integration Kit (IFBMW-S)

Quick Install, just took 30mins on my F10. Overall improvement is good, of course compared to stock speakers, without tweeter. For those considering to do it yourself, can be done but not strongly recommended, the Youtube instruction is not completely accurate especially on removing the door panel.

Just need to get the housing for the door tweeter from PML, installer provide just the speakers. Total damage including tweeter casing, less than $1k. No amplifier or extra cabling required.

Courious why these instead of Gladen of Jehnert which are both designed for BMW so will fit without modifying anything? Their price around the same range too.

I didn't get a chance to try Gladen. I believe those were 20% more.

There is also ES Corp of Japan which were 1/2 the price.

Down to preference.

Curious too, why these above instead of original higher end options like Hifi, top Hifi, Logic 7, Harman Kardon, and Bang & Olufsen?

Here we list something for your consideration:

1. Original speakers fit the car perfectly, no need to do any modification. After market one like above tweeters must put glue or something else to fix it in the original tweeter covers.

2. Original system use original cables and connectors, which is truly plug and play. Like the photo above use a lot of aftermarket wirings, which might be the cause of rattling sound or other hidden issue. Germany/Demark Made speaker cables plays another important role in the original sound system: and strictly thickness of the cables also very important. Like: For tweeters: 0.35mm2, for Mids: 0.75mm2, for Base: 2.5mm2, and for power cable: 4.0mm2(L7) / 10mm2(B&O). Thinner and thicker one are both not good.

3. Connectors: Original Connector has it very strictly qualification on contact resistance and Using the bushing / pin. Like the photo above use those cheap made male/female connector might ruin the whole sound quality.

4. Future upgrade: usually people will think about the current setup can be used for future upgrades or not, original speaker system will keep the ability of future upgrades.

5. Original stuff is only a little bit more expensive if the comparison is equivalant. Like the above 2 Twtrs and 2 Mids: $200 more only.

Focal to me is a delicate aftermarket speakers.
It range from hundreds to thousands over. I used to be a focal setup ice player on my old Japanese car days.

It depends on setup ie cable, amps, hu, type of recordings ie high bit recordings, power, staging m tuning.
So a simple upgrade is ok if you can bear with it but to me personally an upgrade on the total system is essential to play ice.
