Point A: Probably gain of 10bhp at the peak OR Point B: Increase of about 30bhp in the low-mid range revs... If it makes you feel any better, your current situation is alot better than mine ;)

thanks to all for the information and opinion. it is indeed useful.

for now, it is definitely not as promised by the seller.

i will wait for the explanation from the tuner before taking further action.

No worries bro, let me know if you need any help or info. I'm no encyclopedia but I guess I could still share my experiences and the steps I took.

Today is Day 3, still waiting for j4c reply...

you waiting for them to reply online? better to just go down and discuss face to face.

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

already spoken to amos on Day 1.

now waiting for angmo to get back to them.

will keep all updated...

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

Pingman

However J4C get back to you, thank you for sharing your experience on this HIOP upgrade.

It helps the rest of us who may have been thinking about doing this upgrade to make an informed decision.

Cheers!

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

Today is Day 4 after 'surgery'.

below are the observation:
1. fuel consumption is the same as before. a full tank of $150 platinum techron still go 550km.
2. still no engine or drivability anomaly found.
3. butt feel has subsided, hence dopamine level too.

otherwise, still waiting for good news from J4C...

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

Day 9 after 'surgery'. it is now confirmed by HIOP that the 3.0L VVT engine HP yield requires further intense attention in germany . They will now perform the remap on similar engines in germany to ensure that higher yield in terms of horses and torque before I (and other local N52) gets it.

this is what J4C has said... it will be months of wait before a safe and high yield remap is available.

you mean HIOP sold you a remap that they didn't even test? how did they arrive at power/torque gain figures then?

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

Dudes.... don't just to jump to conclusions.....

If this is true, its best to hear from the horses mouth..... Lets not jump the gun.... there are people who have done this and are quite happy with it.

Pingman, comments...... about your hiop.....

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

i didnt say they are irresponsible. in fact, since Day 1, J4C and their staff are very proactive in pushing HIOP to find out exactly what is the maximum yield can be extracted. J4C cant do much unless HIOP give them the map to perform to remap here. they are just a rep for HIOP here.

my pre/post dyno chart has needless shown that there is not much difference in horse and torque yield as promised all over the other ECU remap thread. although there is some kinda butt feel initially. after 1 week or so, the butt feel is no longer so distinct. my dyno chart posted should provide the necessary explanation. i must thank all bros here for insisting me for going for the dyno, otherwise, i probably still stuck in my butt feel false reflex of a good remap.

as for the main reason why i jump into ECU remap for my E65. it is because there were confirmed report seller posting more than 20+ bhp gain on post remap and also other reported incident of previous 7 series with M54 gaining 20+ bhp.

i m now still waiting for good news from HIOP through J4C. i still have faith in them, just need time to fine tune the new engine.

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

hi Pingman.. thans for the detailed explaination of your ECU remap... For me, I haven't done my Post Dyno yet, still waiting for Seetoh san to come back from Jungle training... :)
And yes, its much better to have a local rep here which you can go to if you are not satisfied with the remap.. and J4c has been great in responding to our queries...
Hope HIOP will fine tune this remap for the 3.0L N52 engine soon..

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

DAY 32 report.

not sure if it is the haze micron size dust particles that is causing this? or is it the ECU has totally outsmart and overwrite the remapped data.

for a couple of days now, it seems the car is now lethargic and not keen to perform like DAY 1.

strange. was it me or the weather?

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

funny i feel the car off by about 5 % recently too...not chipped but just an observation...could be the haze or psychological...

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

For all to know, since we cannot figure out why this "not-much-hp-increase" happens to pingman's E65, we have since refunded the money in full to him about 2 months ago. As we speak, hiop is still pondering why there are no problems with the other 3.0L N52s, given the maps are very very similar.

Re: FR: E65 VVT being HIOP-ed

if i remembered what i was told by rob from technik engineering, asian cars have different DME versions from cars in europe and US.
