FR: My First Servicing at PML

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

amidah buddha.

The ultimate driving machine given an ultimate poor treatment.

But heh, programmed OB computer to remember air-con non-circulating setting permanently...how can this be done. Can I do myself to avoid wiper additives :p

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

thanks for sharing Albert.... who is that CSA? U r BRAVE!!

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

Actually, I've been sending my cars to PML for years and do agree there are one or two black sheeps... but overall, I guess, I've been lucky to be assigned to good ones. If you kenna a good one, better remember his or her name and ask for that same person each time you go there.... relationship counts. :)

I agreed with you but not totally cos even with the best CSA you have, with lousy technicians that are actual ppl whom works on your ride, LPPL. Good to hear u are few , very few, that has gd experience with them.

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

Bro

If you own a BMW you have to go to PML like it or not.

PML is very good in selling cars as such more and more BMW cars are now on the road but there is no increase in manpower or technical staff at PML workshops. That is why they cannot cope with the increase in work load.

Maybe the earlier group of BMW owners can comment on the quality of the standard of service during those days compared to now. I hope PML is reading this... Wake up... aftersales department.

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

OLL bro. Must try out to see how scary they are. I am still puzzled how the technician accidentally damaged the fixtures since no explanation was clearly given. OLL bro is right, good CSA must have good technician too.

I believe PML and its staff are doing their best. I still admire the CSA honesty for informing me that they damage my ride in the servicing process.

What happen to Individual Owner's Choice? I dont care about warranty anymore so i do hv wide choice of aftermarket workshop to go to.. After my initial few veri bad experience with PML (during my 1st 5000km), never been into PML ever again.. where is PML?

Shortage of manpower and lousy technician handling our cars properly is 2 different matter. If the culture is not set right, give them another 100 technicians, result will b unchanged.

Agreed with u 100%, their aftersales do hv to wake up. I waited 2 years liao.

Henry1515, taking this route will give PML a chance to void your warranty unless ur warranty period is up. having said that, also depends how you talk to them when it comes to warranty issue.. they always like to threaten you with "void warranty".

Mine is not up yet (left with 1 more year)... but i dun bother cos cannot tahan my ride gng into PML in good condition and out with door dings, scratches and etc.... just me. I did my last 4 services at either j4C or BVO.

I feel J4C and BVO is good enough to take care of our needs. I go to both of them for all my services and mods. Always a smile on my face when i leave the workshop.

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

If i asked for the additive NOT to be added and they did, I will NOT pay for it. At least they are better then Kah Motors who just fill up with water!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

OLL,

I cannot be more agreeable with that. Its a cultural and work practice issue that the after-sales team has. The whole mindset is F***. Even if you bring in some excellent ppl from anywhere, they will also be polluted in no time

A permanent solution shld be "TO SHAPE UP OR MOVE OUT"

Thanks for sharing Pingman!

Sad to say, sounds alot like my experience. Sent in for 2 days. Pre-empted. They made a list of requirements. Also didn't call me. Till 6pm. Their workshop close at 630pm. I took taxi down and showed up in front of the CSA. Despite having called him right from the showroom at the waiting area. Of my list, only did 4 items. Missed 3. But was told all would be finished the prior. Hahaha...each time he said he'ld call me, either at lunch or end of day, he never did. i had to call him. 2hours later. Does very little for confidence.

Came back a month later for final items. Told to leave car in shop for whole day. To change the touch panel in front of the shifter......i told him u give me i put in myself. cos i pulled it out to check before. Then he relented and sent in the car. and i left in 25mins. Whole day no car vs 25mins....walauz..they dam steady man.

Task force too small for the amt of cars they have?

But yes, kudos for the honesty in damaging ur car.

As this setting not a damage part but a reconfiguration job, i chose to let PML try it out. they did it for me free of charge apparently. u will need to have the same diagnostic interface that PML, BVO and J4C have. seen seetoh technician or ah wee did the interface before. not sure if they do it for free or otherwise, do give them a call too. they are very friendly people.

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

I was wondering if we collectively, as a big group of BMW owners, voice out about this bad after-sales customer services to PML, maybe they would look into this & improve.

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

PML is totally crap man... Here my fair share of bad experience.
Firstly, when my car was still new, i ask them why the R/T button on my steering wheel was not working. Those F***ing idiots took my car in the whole day to check and told me that thats the way it is. Should not have been lazy and question out in the forum or read the manual then. Really is wasting my time that day. CSA dont even know what are they doing..

Secondly, squeaking sound from my brakes even when car is stationary. They checked and told me the brakes pads and rotors need replacement, but still safe to use. So i decided to wear them out before changing them out. Made the change at J4C. After change, sound still there. J4C took the car out for a test drive and immediately revert back to me and said that the brake Servo is faulty. This shows that PML is just F***ing cockster who dont treat their customers seriously and just wanna suck dry my money. I bet they never even test drive my car to hear the sound that i noted them and whats worst is they always use the same sentence " this problem is very common among the e46s"....

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

Whoa! finally! someone, or at least seems like most people here are feeling my frustration!!!! PML aftersales should really buck up! Here is my ultimate driving experience....
1. For even the simplest checks, it takes at least 1 day and for a short list of items to be checked, it will take 2 days.
2. Genuine warranty claims that were verified by outside workshops ( but these workshops, try to save my money and ask me go in to pml for warranty claims) were termed as false alarms and nothing is done.
3. Go in to PML and get them to do this and do that, and they all say can... but at a high mark up price.... and ADD another 10-20% for LABOUR. and the WORSE THING IS.... when I get the car back, the problem is still there!!! End up, wallet one big hole, nothing is fixed.
4. For those who were unfortunate enough to experience what I have experienced, do you all realise too that when you get your car back, the trip computer readings were off the charts? and your car end up with more problems that when before u sent it in? (for example, my brakes started screeching more, engine vibrated more and trembles when i come to a stop at the lights, all problems i never had before.)>>>>>> if you have had these strange readings on your trip computer and some other problems, here is why...... (and i know it cos i spoke to a friend who used to work for pml)>>>> these "bonus" issues usually occur when pml brings your car out for "test drives". At these test drives, your car is trashed to the max and thus the fuel consumption readings go off the charts and your engine/brakes/etc gets wacked in the process. Sometimes, like in pingman's case, someone was careless with it. Happened to me too.... long scratch on the side skirt.... they claim they dint do it. I check my car every day and only i drive it. HOW CAN THERE BE A LONG SCRATCH DOWN THERE WHEN I DINT SCRAP THE CURB???

Oh, well, thank goodness my warranty runs out in feb. GOOB BYE PML!!!!

Re: FR: My First Servicing at PML

would it help if one of the more eloquent amongst us send an official letter of complaint to performance motors copying BMW Asia.

perhaps a general list of complaints would be useful to support the complaint.

it would be interesting to see how pml / bmw asia would react against a "class action" type of complaint.

hopefully they can come up with a good response.

show of hands who are interested and who will write?
