Re: Friendly FUTSAL 24th June 2008
Ah ok... will just have to make do and get used to what I'm using now. At the end of the day still comes down to skill so will have to improve on that.
Quite a bit of field play migrants from what I observe, myself included. Many bad habits to rid of and futsal-like ball control needed in order to play the smart way i.e. not running ourselves silly or injuring each other with wild field play. Much to learn for many of us and it's quite technical at a certain point I feel.
For those who run to the corners, their only options are to back pass, dribble through (likely to lose the ball) or square it but it becomes a 50/50 ball with so many players cramped at the top of the D. Once the ball is lost, it's down to 1-2 players to defend.
I was exposed to a few 1-on-1 situations when I was playing keeper, damn hard to defend but keeping my leg distance close enough helped a lot in cases where I managed to make a save/block. In comparison I found those easier to defend against rather than an open man coming in from the side with the common chance to square it for a teammate with an open goal (happened too many times).
Nice vid, awe-inspiring and man look at those bicycle lee xiao long kicks! On another note, it can be a bit challenging to play the way they do as not everyone is on the same page i.e. not committing but waiting for the opponent to make a move and standing with some slack distance. Some players will no doubt run in and start shoving/pushing/body checking or biting at the heels. In such cases it makes it a bit harder to play true futsal style with all the beautiful footwork and trickery. It gets reduced to street soccer and a very raw/basic style of play. That said, I hope one day we can more or less play towards that style and man, it would be a beautiful game to observe! Swee...

Example of common mistake - perhaps we watch too many BPL games, many of us tend to dribble all the way to the corner - what can you do there? Cross the ball as if we are on the field? Or take a potshot? Either way, you risk losing possession to the opponents. If your team is good in passing, the last thing they wanna see is conceding possession that way. Plain stupid.
Take a look at this, some cues on futsal.......
