from E60 to X1

hello everybody.

My ride's coming to 10 years in Feb 16. Intend to look for a used X1 course sometimes may need to transport some goods.

My e60 has been (and hopefully will do so till 2016!) a relatively good workhorse. Ride and comfort and drivability no horse run. Except for the 1 time top overhaul for a suspected blown head gasket (which i believed i inherited from the previous owner ) that caused cost about 4K...i still feel it's a good car overall. (fyi, its my first Beemer, no regrets)

So...first question is..X1 can mod or not?? as in simple mod..i added a piggy back to my E60...love the response.

Last question, X1 can take me another 4- 5 years on the road without much major problems bo? initially i had the impression that X1 is built out of Germany...but i guess i was wrong.

i read in this forum about some noise and sounds on the doors during drive...but i guess it it's not TOO LOUD.. i can live with it...coz it also means the cabin insulation is good, otherwise sure cannot hear those minor "unexplainable" sounds which for some reasons PML engineers cannot determine.

thanks folks!

I believe I read it from some journals... Then again I could hv mistaken. Then during BMW World this year...the sales rep told me they were manufactured in USA...hmm..

Re: from E60 to X1

Is your impression also dented by the perception that only german built ones are perfect, where as else where its not?

I actually think that built quality is one... the after sales support is more key.

I actually dun think you are wrong... in terms of the manufacturing location. A quick check shows mine is "L", indicative of the Spartanburg plant origin. Spartanburg is in North Carolina... maybe next year i may get to visit...

Not Leipzig meh??

Re: from E60 to X1

Thanks for that... i keyed in the entire VIN. Says werk: Leipzig.
Ahaaaaa!

But the concept of imperfections variance... is not really valid. Its far from perfect... but i guess it hasnt been that bad.
