Hi guys..today i went to pump air into my tyres at the petrol station...upon finishing the other 3 tyres, i got to the front right tyre of the car...as usual i proceeded to unscrew the valve cap and BOY did i get burnt!!!
the whole rim was searing hot and it was emitting some serious heat...i still couldn't open the cap even after getting some cloth as insulation so decided to leave it for tomorrow and ask around first. funny thing was...the other 3 rims were close to cool...and im not sure if the rim got hot from
1. the engine's heat
2. the tyres (which were quite hot but perfectly ok to touch)
3. the brakes
overall, that whole area of the car was dissipating heat and just standing there i could feel it...some slight smell too but not exactly sure what smell it is...hoping some of you could advise me on this problem...by the way i did strike the curb on that wheel 2 weeks ago but other than the usual rash on the rims there wasn't any visible problem...
could it be the wheel alignment/balance problem? or did the bump cause my brakes to run out of alignment and rub somehow..? HELP! many thanks in advance...
