Yo bro out there...I have this funny "kong" sound which is barely noticeable at the back of my car...whenever I accelerate & release the accelerator in low speed, I heard a "kong" sound which came from the back and thought must be something behind the boot. However, nothing found and continue my journey. After a while there is no such sound again. But later on, it appeared again...whenever you go in slow speed like gear 2 to 3 and then leave your foot off the accelerator, the "kong" sound comes aback again...freaking strange phenomenal :furious:

This has been happening since 2 weeks ago and I wonder if it's the rear suspensions...:(

Does anyone had this experience? It's barely a month old car :furious:

Hope to get some advice from you guys...thanks a million :)

The same thing has been happening to my car...except that it's already 15 yrs old. Suspect it's either suspension or rear diff. Let me know when you find out what's causing it.

if certain its not anything in the boot and u can replicate it everytime, then its a good opportunity to bring down PML and ask them to rectify. many a time noise issues r difficult to replicate, which leaves u sucking thumb while ur tester has one less issue to attend to.

Re: Funny "kong" sound from new BMW 318i

Went down to PML and test drive the car with the mechanic...indeed the mechanic heard the sound which he finds it strange for 3 series new car...:huhhuh: Drove about 10-15 minutes trying all sorts of road and up/down slopes to confirm the sound coming from my car...he really scratched his head...:huhhuh:

After driving back to PML, I was told that the car need to be thoroughly check and at least 2-3 days downtime and if they found the caused fast, it could be only 1 day downtime to fix the problem...well not sure if they can find the cause of it as this is the first case and new to them especially for a brand new car...The mechanic told me that the this problem often happens with 7 series due to wear & tear (about 3-4 years period) but not with 3 series...

Sigh...:verysad: suay man...get new car and got this problem...wasting time...:verysad:

Re: Funny "kong" sound from new BMW 318i

Sounds like a worn rear axle mount.

I've driven a mit lancer before but no issue on this...however OPEL Astra-H seems to have this problem whenver it changes to second gear...the "kong" sound is much more obivous... and sold off too...;)

I suspect is the gearbox mechanism that linked to the rear axles that causes this sound...

Well...he said due to wear and tear of the couplings of the rear axles...

Not at all...the sound started during the first week after collection of the new car...I thought it will go off eventually...but I'm wrong...:naughty:

how do we do this or is this possible? always kena turn down flat!

Re: Funny "kong" sound from new BMW 318i

I have indicated to SA that I need transportation during downtime if I place my new car there and they offered me without hesitation. However, he only concern is that I have to queue for the courtesy car which they claimed currently fully booked not until late Sept or early Oct...:wtf:

Said that there is no safety issue with the car so not to worry too much...they better be sure about this...otherwise, if anything happen to me or my family while driving...they better pray hard I will come after them and HAUNT them!!!
