Was deciding between the Garmin setup and the new Dopod p100.

Difference is that the Dopod functions as a PDA as well and if I download VOIP, i can make use of its 3G connectivity and use it as a phone as well...

Question: should i get the Garmin or the Dopod??? thanks!

I have used both. PDA GPS (uses Garmin Que with SIRF III GPSr) and Garmin Quest, at this point, my personal opinion would be that it is far more user friendly to get a dedicated GPS set.

When I am ready for my next purchase, it would have to be a Garmin.

Also. can i load other Maps like Mapking...etc..to the Garmin GPS?

Maps are proprietary ..meaning, they do not work cross-device.

According to AllBright Technology at Textile Centre (#03-29), the latest bundled price of NUVI 360 with W. Europe pre-loaded map + Sing/Mal map on SD is S$1,700. the price should be the same at Perfect Watch @ Sim Lim.

Re: Garmin GPS

My suction cup is losing suction, keeps falling off from windscreen. What can I do?

Yes, that wld be similar to Perfect Watch's pricing. But the $650 diff compared to the $1050 for the Nuvi 310 abit hard to swallow. :)

Have u considered mounting it onto dash using good 3M tape that wld not damage your dash?

I have a Nuvi 350 and I bought this instead of using the windscreen suction ...

It has served me well .. the Nuvi could be mounted and take down very easily.

Cost me US$24. Not sure if Perfect Watch sells it.

how and where in the car do you mount this?

Re: Garmin GPS

I think KT mounted between the IU and the A pillar.

Andy is right, it is between the A-pillar and IU. The great thing about this dash mount is that the based is "permanently" stick to the dashboard, but I could easily remove the arm (you can see from the picture there is a lever that lock the arm) and bring it to another car.

This proves to be useful when I was in California recently, the law forbid any suction cup on windscreen, so, I should be able to use this instead to move between vehicles.

A buddy of mine has this and I just need to borrow from him when I travel again.

Re: Garmin GPS
