Gear shift to neutral while slowing down

hi bros;
My 520 has this problem of gear shifting to neutral while slowing down. It happened one or twice in the past weeks. I did wheel alignment last week and the ride was better without the problem for 5days. But today it happened again twice in a day.
I have sent to one WS and no fault was found with the diagnostic toolkit.
anyone got such problem.
fyi I have recently done some major repair like GB top overhaul. change valve seal, engine mounting.
appreciate it very much input and solution

What do you mean by GB top overhaul ?

Anyway it sounds like your GB is slipping ......

My GB(GearBox) was faulty and could not engage into drive mode in Nov 2013. Towed my car to PML and they quoted 12k to replace the GB. Towed to outside WS at AMK autohub and they replace the GB mechatronics solenoid valve, flush and replace auto oil and replace engine mounting.
I got this problem of gear shifting into neutral before my GB broke down.
After it was repaired for two months, seems like the problem resurfaced, hope it is not the GB issue.
WS boss told me could not diagnosed the problem. suggest to either reprogram the software or wait and monitor until faulty signal come up.

What do you mean by GB top overhaul ?

Anyway it sounds like your GB is slipping ......

Hope it's not the GB as well but when It shifts gears by itself or drop to neutral its hardware related.

Goto a transmission specialist and have it checked out .......

I am having a similar problem. Gear shift to "N" and sometimes "P" before dying off. I have reinstalled the dme software. Somehow, the problem stop for some 6 months. Now it is back.

So did you manage to solve the problem?

Hi Bros

My ride is 5 yrs 3 mths old. Mileage is a high 166k km. Dying off as in like switching off the engine. I have press to START button to fire up the engine again.

Newbie here just gotten a 2005 e60. Few days back wash the car. Then driving for awhile. After sometime when at traffic light. Accelerate hard. The car moves off but with lots of white smoke came out from the exhaust and the engine was like stuck arpund 4000rpm. The white smoke is like fogging. After awhile no more white smoke.

Same case of auto change to Neutral when slowing down and engine died, air on and radio still on. Once was on the highway too, surrounded by vehicles!!

Had to quickly tap slightly on the brake to restart and then tap again to change to Drive mode in order not to have the rear car slam into my back!

E60 2008. Had changed ATF twice some more! I suspect GB going to mati soon. BVO also cannot tell me what's the problem. To top it off, the engine is really yam Seng on the engine oil. I have topped up 1 liters 3 times and my mileage is only 4.5 k since the last service!!!

Previously was only low once after 5k. Wonder what's the problem.

Sigh... $$$$$ literally kena burn

Looks like you are having a similar problem as me. I tried many things including re-installing the dme software. It did not work. Some workshop like BVO wants to change the entire mechatronic. I finally fixed the problem at Round Motors @ AMK Auto Point by changing the gearbox selenoid at around $1k. As I just changed the ATF not long ago, the ATF was reused. It has been quite some time now..... so far so good. Keeping my fingers cross.

I would tap into the relays and see how it's energizing ........ PM me if you need more help.

Did anyone try looking at the Gear Lever for E Gear cars ?
Experienced occasional failure to engage R or D when pushing the goose neck lever, it is the electrical contact getting dirty according to PML.
Had it cleaned and it was ok for a long while like 1yr++ till i sold the car

cannot remember how I solved it, but try looking for site sponsors here. I tired Revol of AMK and they are extremely helpful in diagnosing with similar equipment as PML. $5k-$6k is bullsh.it

whole set of mechatronics change is about S$3.5k + labour for E60, without the ATF (9 litres?) at one of the site sponsors. For F10, probably you can give and take. You probably can reduce the cost if you purchase the mechatronics from stockist and get the WS to install, but probably no warranty on the parts
