General servicing

Re: General servicing

Thanks guys for the feedback. Going next week to update driver particulars and also check service history.
Another question guys, I check the car computer and it shows 9000 to the next oil change, and I right to say the last service was 25000 and already 16000 didn't change oil.

For me, i heck with whatever the car computer said and change whatever oil/fluid necessary. From thereon, i will trust my own calculation. I have nvr go servicing according to car computer.

As rule of thumb, I always change oil every 10,000km, even on my E90 where the computer state every 25,000km... A few of my friends and I bought E90 around the same time... All of them got engine problems aft a few years except mine...

Re: General servicing

Can certain functions of the car computer be disable? e.g. dont warn about servicing, brake conditon etc.

pml don't update the booklet liao, everything is computerised.
plug in the key fob and the entire service records are listed in the computer system including services, repair works and warrranty claims.

Does any site sponsors listed in this forum has the facility to view/update the key fob when our rides are brought for repair/service?

Sorry for the noob question. I had never had my car service outside of PML/Munich servicing centers.

Re: General servicing

I just bought a 3 year old E66 and got it thoroughly checked and serviced in jb. Experienced mechanic with BMW malaysia and support from a euro partner. Has all updated equipment for E and F series. Bought all parts, filter and oil from Singapore..labour!!only about 50 sin dlrsfor change of rear brakes, change aircon filter, change transmission oil, engine oil n few more.also diagnostics for car done. Happy that I do not have to pay arm n leg here when it's only 10 minutes from checkpoint.

Re: General servicing

Items to replace upon reaching 100,000km:

1. All ignition coils (Borsch or original ok)
2. Transmission fluid and filter
3. All spark plugs (Use original NGK)
4. All belts
5. Battery
6. All radiator water hoses, plastic tank & cap (Perform a pressure test) Change even no leak as all connector made of plastic will crack & water leak cause overheating without warning.
7. Check all oil hoses for leakage
8. Engine mountings
9. Brake disks
10. Lower arm bushes
11. Wiper blades
12. Check water pump
13. Shock absorbers
14, Flush brake fluid
15. Engine oil catch diaphragm. ( Look like oil catch tank)
16. Engine head gasket
17. Check fuel pump
18. Fuel filter
19. Cabin filter
20. Air filter
21. Air-con compressor
22. Engine oil & filter every 10,000km not 25,000km

Most warrant may not cover the wear & tear.

etc if any

Re: General servicing

Thanks guys for all the advice. Manage to do my engine oil change, sparks plug and ATF at $727. Not out of my expectation of 4 digits.

Re: General servicing

Hi all,

Bought a 1 yr old F10 and it is due for its 20000 km servicing. The previous owner had a five year warranty with TWM and the car is not from PML. Where can I send my car for servicing? Please advice. Thank you.
