Gettin some P.I.M.P. bass in my ride

Hi ! TBT.

How much you paid for your Car ICE and where did you install ?

Front
1 pair of dynaudio system 240 GT 6.5" driven with
1 audison LR Super current 280 2 X 80 watt.

Rear
1 pair of dynaudio 8" mid-sub driven with
1 PPI PCX 1.500 1 X 500 watt.

A rear custom board to house the 2 X 8" mid-sub. hence using the orginal speaker cut-out to stream sound into the cabin and a console box to house the amps & cap.

I can imagine that your car ICE did not occupied much boot space right.

Front (done by hong guan $200 with all cables & high low converter)
1 pair of dynaudio system 240 GT 6.5" driven with ($550)
1 audison LR Super current 280 2 X 80 watt. ($900)

Rear (done by acoustic auto $200 include custom speaker board & console)
1 pair of dynaudio 8" mid-sub driven with ($500)
1 PPI PCX 1.500 1 X 500 watt. (got it pre-own $500)

that is right my boot space is still retain. 1 X 26" luggage bag & 2 X cabin bag still got lots of space for other shopping bags. i'll try to get some photos up when the weather gets better.

good luck.

In many a review, dynaudio and Audison are promoted as a good combination.

tbt, No offence and jus sharing what i've heard, the recent batches of dynaudio has a tendency to blow. So careful not to push them too hard. Lemme stress again, this is what i've heard from diehard ICE competitors ....pls dont take offence.

Anyway, Audison and PPI... what good amps !!

How low does your 8" go down to, in terms of freq ?

hey bro,

thanks for the advice, i'll keep a watch out for them, my cuurent ICE setup was done almost some 1 1/2 years ago. my previous setup was all round 4 X Mac-Audio speaker & 2 X audison amps, it was done went i just got my car some 3 yrs ago, i upgraded them to the current setup after 1 1/2 yrs, so my car is 3 yrs now and i am on my 2nd setup.

don't worry i won't take offence. in fact i am happy that you share the exprience with everyone here. i am also learning something from this as well.

as for how low the 8" goes. it's rather personal, some would say 2 X 10" is better, some would say 1 X12" is better. it all depends on the music one listen to or ones taste. & also do you want to cut a hold on the rear speaker board ! and the constrains of boot space.

from the website of dynaudio my 8" is MW170 WOOFER, Frequency response: 40Hz - 3.4kHz; 89 dB sens.; 150 watts continuous power handling.

well the best is to tryout with your favorite CD.

p.s. i still have not got a chance to take some pic of my setup yet.

you can checkout my setup on the meetups.

cheers.

Vtec bro,

My setup cheaper than TBT. This is what I have on my MINI;

Front Dynaudio speakers GT 240, 6.5"
Powered by Audison 2 channel VRx2 250rms Amp (this one will cost you)

Back stock speakers power by stock head unit amp, just for filling in the music.
Running a basic Active Bass tude to add a bit of base.

Thats all I have.......... :)

Cheers!
:)

Welbo,

Try get a sub and separate amp instead.... more flexibility in settin the gain and x-over point...

tbt, Glad its well received. Ya...some many differing opinions on 2x8, 2x10...but i am more convinced on 1x12 hehe... But since your subs can do 40hz, then u can well enjoy a good Hotel California :)

Dynaudio at $550 was quite a popular promotion some mths back by a new installer. It was claimed his was from denmark , but when i sought the advice of some oldbirds...they say its more likely to be from China... scary...

The Dynaudio $550 promo was by Konceptz right? Bought mine from him. Doesn't matter where it's made to me as long as it's the same cone and parts.

Azrielsc, settle your boot first la... haha..

jaskin, yeah...i didnt wanna mention names..but since u did hehe... sometimes it matters sometimes it doesn't...as long as it doesnt blow, but it wasnt very ethical to proclaim otherwise. My 2 cents.

LOL, in my case I didn't ask. :) But he did give me a 1 year waranty or something

jaskin, speakers warranty as good as not having la... they will argue that u might have over powered it, or even say u drive your car too fast haha... etc etc etc...

Yeah, alot of problems one. I feel like upgrading my speakers. Find them too bright. Tried using them with the Audison 2x130W but they were underpowered and now with the PG 475 sounds alot better but still bright.

Hi ! Jaskin.

When you mentioned using Audison 2 x 130W to power Dynaudio 240 GT still under power ?

If I purchase Audison LRx2.250 (2x120W) to power Dynaudio 240 GT, I will face the same problem right ?

If yes, then I may have to consider VRx 2.250 (2 x 160W) ==> Is this good enough ? Any idea how much will cost me ?

Actually, how much power is enough for Dynaudio 240 GT ????

BT, thanks for the pics but too bad now i can't see them cuz we just have new forum software... any other places that i can see your setup?

Thanks again!

Hi One headlight,

That is what i was told by the sound shop too. I am on a tight budget so just do what I can afford first.

Cheers!

that's right. i had good speaker at the rear, but could not hear anything.
i think one of the reason my ears are facing the front. so invest in a good set of front speaker.
well 95% of the time i'm alone in the car.

cheers
