GLASSCOAT?

normally, these kind of glasscoat protection requires 'maintenance' every 3-6 mths, depending on manufacturer/brand. means u hv to go back to them.

normal wash is ok, but not sure about using a clay bar tho...

Glasscoat would minimised scratches not really scratch resistance, you will still get water marks and swirls marks if not wash properly. Periodic maintenance is still needed.

Any advice on how to minimize water spots? Apart from washing after rain...

The only way to prevent water marks is to dry off the water before the Sun comes out. If there are other better way I would like to learn too.

What's one issue is that if it rains in the morning and you cannot wash it off immediately and the sun comes out, the water spots will come.

Yup. The good thing about PPS is the water marks won't be as obvious, its just not full proof.

with the tropical climate we have here..... water marks can be minimized, but cant be avoided.... unless u keep the car under the shade all the time....

Not for the fussy owner, but glass coating tends to be an easier way for the lazy owner to maintain the waxed look after each wash. Something like a coating over the waxed shine that last a lot longer than wax alone. More noticeable with older cars. My 07 E70 looked "almost" dull after each wash even though it was polished swee swee when i bought it used. My current 2010 car looks every bit shiny after each regular wash (even petrol kiosk regualar was), as it was coated in 2015, by the previous owner. Again it's not for fussy owner avoiding swirl and water marks, but for "lazy" owners wanting the car to shine after each wash. Did it for my brand new 2010 C200 and it's called Nano-coating in C&C. Was just as shiny standing next to it for all the 3 years I had it after each wash.
