Greetings Everyone,

My name is Casey, new to the forum committee. Thought of joining this forum to get to know more owners of Beemers and hoping to gain more knowledge about my new ride which is the new 523i from a PI.

Have been driving it for 1 month and loving it every moment.

My pervious ride is a Peugeot 307SW, so you can imagine how I feel now switch from the old car to the new one. Been telling my friends, I'm driving a "car" now not a "van"... ha ha..

Anyway, mileage is reaching 5000km soon, anyone can recommend a good workshop for my 1st servicing?

Cheers

Hi Casey...

Usually your new PI should come with warranty from either TWM or iEnergy.

Part of the Warranty condition is you must service at their authorised workshop... TWM's for Conti would be Khang's Auto at Sin Ming (Beside NEA's North East Environment Office) as for iEnergy, I'm not sure...

But if you would like to venture out of scope... you mat try some of the most recommended workshops by bros n sis here like BOV and afew others. I personally know of 1 Gim Teck @ Sin Ming Industrial Estate Blk 21 that is rather proficient with Conti cars but very much preferred by older folks probably due to image so they have more Merc than Bimmers... It is right opposite Amtech Building.

Noob advising Noob... Haha

Cheers

Re: Greetings Everyone

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the recommendation. Will take note and give them a call to book a timing for the servicing.

BTW, any idea how much on average will it cost of normal servicing?

Cheers

Workshops outside of PML should cost anywhere from $150 to $220 for a normal oil and filter change ba... Not too sure as i'm not due for mine till probably in December...

Re: Greetings Everyone

Hi Everyone,

Just came back from my trip to Hong Kong on last Thur and after starting my car after 1 week plus, discovered that the light controller and left signal light goes "kaput". So shock and sad as I got the car for last than 2 months and this happens. Anyway, sent the car to one of the Insurance appointed workshop "Proswift" at Ubi. In order to access the lights, they have to dismantle the bumper to get to the light and the control unit below the lights. Wow, so complicated. They took 1 whole day to source for the control unit and manage to take the car back the next day. Also serviced the car for 5000km, and it cost around $260 for 7l of engine oil and air filter. Based on the above, the pricing is quite reasonable, right?

Well, hope this is the last I need to change anything... ha.. touch wood... anyone faced the same problem as I had - be it from PI or PM? Kind to share?

Cheers

Re: Greetings Everyone

Hi Leica,

Are you using a Leica system? I'm a Canon fan using 20D but in the midst of thinking to upgrade to 7D or 1D Mark II. Maybe one of this day, we should organise 1 photo outing to shoot our rides? That should be fun.

Cheers

Re: Greetings Everyone

Hi Choc,

Must have a dread feeling right. esp. it happen on our new rides.... Anyway, like you say, hopefully it's a one time thing...

My previous ride is even worse.... the car jerk while changing from 1st to 2nd gear... it's a auto.. ok... keep complaining and sending in for servicing and they can only tune and tune... but still the same.. so at last... cannot tahan, ask them to change the whole gear box and it resolved the problem... so sometimes we need to bang table before the car distributor start working on it... not that we like to bang table :naughty:

So better send in while there are still under warranty.

Cheers

Just to share my cost of servicing my e90 with PML:
1) Cost of labour, oil filter, resetting ECU, wiper liquid, etc - between $82-85.
2) Cost of engine oil (6.5L) - I bought Mobil 1 0w40 outside, $98 for 7 quartz. Robot very ngeow, iscoupe say one, so $80 savings is a lot to me :D
So total is around $180-185.

Re: Greetings Everyone

Hi C3PO,

That's cheap. Have to consider using another workshop or engine oil then... Proswift is using a German brand engine oil.... can't rem the brand...
