Group Buy: 3 and 5 series

Re: Group Buy: 3 and 5 series

Sigh, i remembered asking my SE why the 5 series doesn't come with LED light wing mirror cos i was very keen to upgrade and he told me it's due to safety reason. It too glaring and will affect other drivers vision etc ... so I accepted it lol. Blah blah .... full of bs ROFL :yummie:

Sports leather steering wheel
Black Kidney grills
Xenon light for low-beam and high beam headlights
Door sill finishers with M badge
Lights Package (LED lights below wing mirror)
M Aerodynamics package (special front air dam, rear apron and side skirts)
Preparation for mobile phone w BT interface
Soft-Close for doors

Re: Group Buy: 3 and 5 series

Hi, my SE listed the following improvements for 525i

comfort access
soft-close door
blue tooth
M aerodynamic kit
black grills
light package

sports steering wheel was already provided for 525i in earlier version so no change in that for 525i

Is price increase by 10k+ reasonable for above additional items?

I actually liked the bluwater for its sporty look but it's not available in 5 series. The closest they have is monacablue. Would the latter be too uncleish?

btw C230 no stock and not available for forseeable future. Seems like makers/dealers are anticipating a fall in demand and production/supply cut for auto industry is happening everywhere. Jun COE likely to soften.

Re: Group Buy: 3 and 5 series

If i hv an option to upgrade those improvements by paying additional $10K back then, I will take it cos it's all original factory fitted :)

Re: Group Buy: 3 and 5 series

My wife didn't like the wood trim. Has anyone managed to change the wood trim to aluminium trim locally?

Which is a better buy? 525i with above new features or 335i? 335i costs 30k more than 525i.

Re: Group Buy: 3 and 5 series

I believe prices will be at currently level in the forseeable future.. with the Merc E class launching soon i don't think we'll see a softer CAT B COE soon.

agreed. alsom these brands will always find ready buyers. I just saw some of 740s getting unloaded for delivery. Lots of my friends are shopping cos prices are great compared to what they usually pay for their BMWs or Benz. also i think some "buyers" don't understand that no matter what, these luxury brands don't cut prices to that degree. have u ever seen a sale at LV? recession, still got queue outside. ya la, shorter queue, but they don't need to beg for customers. and look at Audi and their ridiculous OMV value on new cars. lagi worse than PML.

shopping for a good deal is one thing, trying to bargain like we're in a fish market is another. even SE's time should be respected. customers need to be reasonable too right?

Honestly, i would have been thrilled with the prices now versus what i paid a yr ago, and i already got a good deal when comparing to last years pricing. Now don;t even need to bargain and they knock decent % off price straight away. when my SE told me how much a 335 sedan can go for now, i wanted to cry for not listening to her and testing that model earlier.

Price is a close to expectation but a little disappointed the current 335i does not have comfort access and loudspeakers for close to 200k price tag. I think the previous batches have comfort access. My hunch is that comfort access etc may be brought back for 325i and 335i when they bring in new stock.

closer to 190 than 200, no? if those options are impt to you, might wanna try lexus. they tend to put lots of options, right.. otherwise can always indent. as long as u are willing to pay, nothing is impossible.

i think it depends on what a buyer is looking for. bang for buck will be 320 and 520s. best is buy when model phasing out, they tend to throw in more stuff. even then, other models apart from entry level is still never lelong price. BUT then resale plunges when nre model launches. so how??

trying to guess what options come in for next batch is like playing 4D. i don't think PML got say also. sometines its luck. i recall one forumer who got great options on his car. timing is everything.

It seems like you are looking at so many models and considering each of them! I think the more you see the more confused you'll get. Why not figure out which model you want, be it a 3 or a 5 or a Audi or a Merc or a Lexus and just buy it??? Maybe you might not buy anything in the end, cos BMW has this but not that feature that Merc has, and Audi has something that the Merc doesn't have! Anyway, it's endless I think... Buying a car should be an enjoyable experience bro! Alternatively, fill in the indent form and wait for a couple of months, and everything you want will be in the car. Not for those that don't wanna spend too much money though....

If I have a chance to change my ride now, I'll get the 525, the goodies they throw in is fabulous. IMHO, it's really value for money. For those of us that don't have those features in our rides, it will cost much more to mod them later.

Just my 2 cts, and no offence to you bro.....

No problem. I'm very thorough. Don't want any regrets.

Decided on 335i as recommended by SE. Also my choice cos it's the closest to 325i.

Hehe I met the "deadline" given by SE which is today. If everything ok, I'll be collecting my ride on 8 May before the long weekend. Thx everybody who gave me advice. Much appreciated.:)

SE checked with manager yesterday and asked me to decide by today. I confirmed in the evening. I think it's unlikely PML will back out but SE said still need to confirm tomorrow lor. If ok, then pay $10,000 deposit tomorrow.
