You are short option in both cases, negative gamma and negative vega. Vols will be swinging with the NF Payroll - shoots up because of hedging, then normalise post-announcement. Hence two angles to look at this. One, as volatility increases, time value increases, option theta increases - this is good for a short-dated short option position. Two, as time passes, option vega decreases. Time amplifies the effect of volatility changes. As a result, vega is greater for long-dated options than for short dated options. Hence a short-dated short option position will carry a smaller vega. In short, you will be more panic if you are holding on the 6-month short option position. Assuming these are not binary, of course.

Wrong. The Lange goes for SGD 40,550 and new ones sell for about SGD 31,000 after 20+5% discount. The AP Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph Titanium WAS going for SGD 34,400 before it was discontinued. Interestingly the secondary market prices for the AP should be higher than that of the Lange - if you can find one.

So it increases as it approaches to expiry...however, it doesnt come free..hence risk/reward scenario
From a long perspective, you are paying theta (time decay) for it
From a short perspective,you are earning theta for it..

So, buy gamma if u think spot is goin to move, else short it and be disciplined on the stop loss

U got paid a reverse Knock-out 1mth eur 1.2450 eur call KO at 1.2675 ( spot 1.2400)
Other than buying back the same option to neutralize ur position, other method to hedge it is :

Buy back the plain vanilla eur calls at 1.2450 and sell vanilla eur calls at strike anything above 1.2675

False. You can neutralise the short 1.245 call with a plain vanilla 1.245 call, but to neutralise the knock-out at 1.2675, you cannot short any calls above 1.2675. Else in a runaway situation, your short KO position will be knocked-out, but you will be caught naked on the short call position.
