In Portugal's case, the entire midfield - Figo, Deco, and Ronaldo - is attack-minded. Costinha will play, and is the only one who will be assigned to lock Zidane up. Can he?
And FRA are very fast on the flanks - the speed of Henry, Ribery and Malouda and even Saha can pierce any defence with their pace.
It is actually very simple. FRA plays like FRA. POR plays like BRA. So you draw your own conclusion.

Honestly, it will not be as tight as we think. Both teams are not as defensively-minded as the Italians or the Germans. In this respect, FRA will have a slight advantage in their formation - with Makelele and Vieira shielding the defence by Gallas and Thuram, Zidane is free to roam the centre of the field. This was what happened in the BRA-FRA game, when Ronaldinho, Kaka, Ronaldo were all sterile in their attack. If you think ITA has Gattuso in the middle, FRA has TWO !!!pg7170 said:

Which player would you rather have in midfield, if there was an opportunity: Zidane or Maradona?
Box to box player, get Appiah. If want someone to just sit infront of the defence with no actual creativity in attack, then get Gattuso. In my opinion, MU should get Appiah. He's better than Essien in my book.kenntona said:

Who's a better defender: Nesta or Cannavaro?
Roberto Baggio. Has more impact based on the game due to the position he plays, which is along the centre line. Figo plays on the wings. Can be quite detached from the games at times. Think it's the same comparsion made a while ago in the papers between Zidane and Figo.kenntona said:
