From personal experience GTR is technically brilliant and brutaly efficient but lacks the steering feel and driving pleasure of a M5 or even 335 !
Price wise, the 2012 GTR (550bhp) is now priced at $460k from Tan Chong.
Munich is selling theirs at about $540k ?
btw whats the OMV for 2012 M5 n GTR now ?

Good idea, use the M5 as transport and trailer the Exige to Sepang.
U shd try being a passenger for a 2.5 hours trip to Sepang in an Exige...its so hard and uncomfortable !

Not really an appropriate comparison.
GTR is for older wild child who likes to terrorise the roads and impress the lians, like a slightly more cultured WRX STi.
The M5 is luxury sport executive, with supercar performance, luxury sedan comfort, European prestige and style.
M5 is subtle and yet deadly, while the GTR is just deadly.
Concorde versus Bell X-1.
Price aside, M5 is the "no brainer" choice. But if your sole purpose is to have an excellent track car that you can use on the roads, then GTR would be a good choice.
Actually the M550d would make better sense than the M5, environmentally and value for money wise.

Reliability is hard to compare. For example, if one drives a Corolla as hard as an Alfisti would drive an Alfa, I'm sure the Corolla would not be as reliable as it's reputed to be, if it survives the torture without spinning out of control or flipping over.
Still component-wise, I would say GTR more reliable. Design-wise, the M5.
