Hello panda. Once you found something you like, send it to one of our site sponsors' workshop to do a full check of the car. Small price to pay to find any defects (some of us here incl myself learnt this the hard way and spent thousands to rectify the defects). After that, negotiate with the dealer to knock off the cost of repairs from the final sale price. Cheers!
Agree with seanskye about the pre-purchase inspection by independent trustworthy workshop. A STA used car evaluation is good but not comprehensive enough. Try to find out its service history so you understand what has been performed before your ownership. Hence, you can plan and budget your preventive maintainenace & corrective service.
