Hello, I'm a newbie

Greetings... I have just become a owner of a 2005 BMW E90 320i. Always wanted one, finally got one..

Not sure if I will regret the decision.

So far so good until last Friday when I had to bring the car to the workshop as there were multiple warning signs displayed during the ride:
- transmission warning
- tyre flat warning
- DSC off... etc..

Workshop thinks its the fuse box... We shall see

Re: Hello, I'm a newbie

Welcome syclam and congratz.

Hope it is an issue of fuse blown casuing multiple warning indicators, then it is cheap cheap replacement. If it is not fuse issue, it is sway to have one time multiple faults.

Hello and welcome syclam.. Hope your troubles go away soon. Do update what's the problem when you fix it eventually!

Re: Hello, I'm a newbie

Hi everyone,

Well I finally got the car back. But it was not a fuse problem but the on-board computer.

Just to share the experience I had:
(a) was informed that the on-board computer (OBC) had failed... need to buy a new one to replace
(b) once the new one was fitted in, could not get to codes to download and do the initial onboard diagnostics.
The reason was that my sound system was a Dynavin OEM system and not the original BMW Sound System.
(c) Arghh... I had to hunt around for the original sound system and gave it to the workshop
(d) Finally got the codes downloaded and OBC working but once I fitted back the Dynavin sound system, the funny warning signs appeared again
(e) The solution was to then put in the right code for the Dynavin and the password for the Dynavin system and finally problem solved.

Very frustrating...

Re: Hello, I'm a newbie

syclam, glad to hear all is settled.

Re: Hello, I'm a newbie

Congrats on having fixed the problems. Does this mean that we can't retrofit stuff for the e90's sound system?
The original one is quite... "chui". Hahaha
