Hi all,

My name is zammie and I'm from KL. Just popping in to learn more from the enthusiasts here.

I'm driving a Suzuki Swift, but by tomorrow evening, I'll be in a E46 325i...

Sayonara Swift! You've been good to me!!! Sob sob..

Welcome and Congrats to your new ride! :)

Re: Hello, S'porean UDMowners!

when I winced at the title, then I realized why BMW dropped the `Ultimate driving machine' slogan 3 years back: BMW drops "Ultimate Driving Machine"

Not that the car is not a good drive, probably the best in its class for the 3 and 5. But the tagline itself is ... corny by modern linguistic standards. It wants so much `ultimateness' and claims so much in an age of understatedness. It makes the car an object of modern (unfounded perhaps????) derision rather than the preferred adulation. But it was not officially dropped, just not used anymore. I guess those who still want the `corniness' may still fantasize.

Anyway, here's a good forum discussion on it:

BMW drops "The Ultimate Driving Machine" slogan!!! - BMW Forum - BimmerWerkz.com

and a little vote with only 39 votes:

Ultimate Driving Machine Slogan Should Stay! Petition

Ah, i was just wondering what "UDM" stands for..... corny i must say

Re: Hello, S'porean UDMowners!

Haha, didn't realize that. The term "UDM" is still used occasionally in another forum that I joined. But no matter, the term is used mostly between BMW owners only anyway.

Thanks for the welcome guys!
