hi miu miu.. i have the ipod on my car. it disables ur cd changer and so u can only use ur ipod and listen to FM, they do that cause they think if u have 1000 plus songs to listen on the ipod, u wun be neediing the cd changer rite?. anyways, it should set u back at 750 if im not wrong.. price went up!.. haha... i paid 500 or 550 for everythin incld labour. Hope this helps and enjoy ur stay in the forum!.

Re iPod, I just got an iPod recently too and was thinking of adding it to my ICE. In fact, I will be heading down to Hong Guan tomorrow to get it done. WILL NOT LOSE THE USE OF CD CHANGER and original BMW head unit.
Need to install a simple switch that will allow u to select to play from iPod OR the original headunit (radio; tape; CD).
and if I may add, forget about PML. They know not what they do with regards to the iPod......

Can u still use the mutli function wheel to choose the songs and all??... or u have to do it on ur ipod urself?...
and i did not lose the original BMW head unit when i installed the adapter frm pml leh. kong simi??..

Old-fashioned people like me believe in the good, ole cassette adapter! It's cheap, portable and with some ingenuity, can be wired up seamlessly without the ipod showing. Add a RF remote control and you have control of the iPod without touching it. The thought of PML ripping things out is scary, to say the least. Dun know how many scratches they are going to leave on your car in the process.

I was told by PML that their iPod solution will disable the CD changer so you can't listen to CDs.
My iPod will connect to the preamp which I have already installed. Song selection and volume control will be from the iPod, bypassing the BMW HU.

True. Cause it dosent make much sense if u have the ipod which ur able to store all ur songs frm the CD, so obviously they think that u needing the CD changer is of no use, secondly ipod they do together with Apple, connets to the Hu itself, when u press mode.. goes into cd, u then can choose frm the 4 playlist u can create to listen, using everything as normal, multifuction steering wheel works, volume and everything. If u die die not enough frm the ipod and still wanna listen to CDs at times for dunno wat reason .. then get the CD HU... and there u go ... got cd to listen and IPOD. For me i think that BMW and Apple has come up with a pretty nice idea of hooking up the ipod.. they make everything easy for u, and on top of that... u dun have to change anything .. meaning .. everything is same as it was with the CD changer.

Just to put some closure on the topic...after a little deliberation, I think the PML option works best despite dis-abling the CD unit....its a little discrete, no drilled holes, it charges the IPOD and has been tested....just a little pricey -north of SGD600.
