Help! Coolant warning light

Hi everyone
Just last week, the Coolant warning light keeps coming on for about 1 to 2 minutes and then goes off on its own. I have checked the coolant level when the engine is cold and it's at its max level. Does anybody have this same problem, or know what's going on? Appreciate if you can enlighten. Thanks!

I am driving an E46 318 facelift.

just an intermittent problem ive experienced it before too also FL 318...bring it to pml and they will test test then say no prob so dont waste time...but if coolant level drops significantly or spews out suddenly then it's a problem..

It's a tell tale sign that the expansion tank may be cracked.

I got the same light coming on and off. It tuen out that the expansion tank cracked

i vaguely recall i had the same problem and it was a crack tank... no need go PML for this though
