Re: HELP: Tires Clarification for R19 Wheels.

I bought and collected a set of Performance wheels from PML and now looking for tires. They offered to sell and install for me Bridgestone Potenza 225/35/R19 and 255/30/R19 but a friend is recommending PS2 instead.
But Michelin doesn't come with 255/30/R19. The closest they have is a 255/35/R19.
So does it really matter?
Thanks all.

WALAO! Chin Wah quoted me S$2700 for non run flat tires PS2.
I think better stick to BS Potenza... noisy or not don't care already and still get 101% exactly the specs recommended by PML.
Ben, a couple of pointers:
(1) If your wheels are 8J and 9J, the optimal tyre size is 225/255. On some if not most tyres, 235/265 will be too wide to be squeeze onto 8J and 9J.
(2) The tyre width requirement depends on your ride too. Example, if you are running on 8.5J and 9.5J, 225/255 tyres can fit, but it you need more grip on more torque, you can opt for 235/265. So there are actually 2 "optimal" tyre sizes for a 320 vs a 335..... Of course, some cars will go for the fatter look.... For most brands, 245/275 is too wide to be squeezed onto 8.5/9.5J.
(3) Not all tyres are identical in sizes despite the readings. Tyres X's 235 can be same width as tyre Y's 245 given the different shapes in shoulder blocks.
(4) Which Potenza are you comparing to PS2? In the past, S03 from Bridgestone is comparable to PS2. S03 is now obsolete. The successor RE11 is the comparison to PS2 in performance terms. RE11 has harder sidewalls, is heavier but has better grip than PS2.
(5) PS2 has agent price and PI price. They are the same tyres, just from different sources. On 19"s, say 245/275, it should be around $2800-2900 for agent price and $2500-2600 for PI prices.
