I'm currently driving 2006 e90 320i.
My oil temp warning light (yellow) came out.
The warning light come on and off, usually when moving off.
And I went to a workshop( recommend by forum) in Jb to rectify it.
Was told that my temperature sensor is faulty.
Changed to a new one and still the warning light came on.
Was advised again , the ecu or control unit is faulty.
Need to change it.
Anyone experience this?
If so, how much to change for a new one or recon set?

Need ur help dearly.

Thank you .

Hi there, maybe you can switch to a different workshop or try one of the site-sponsors here to diagnose and verify the actual fault to be certain? ;)

Re: Hi I need help on my problem here.

Firstly, I am very doubtful the ECU is faulty.

What diagnostics machine* did the shop over at JB use to check? Just IMHO, any alternative BMW workshop (exclude all the authorised BMW workshop) must have Autologic as bare minimum for diagnostics.

How about giving one of our local site sponsor a chance to check it out for ya.

* Those indicators have codes and such machines will highlight what is the issue, for further checks.

Re: Hi I need help on my problem here.

Thanks everyone, I think I need to check with another local workshop.
The warning light is intermittent. Sometimes when they plug it in, the warning light is not litted. When they checked , it shows the temperature sensors is faulty.
They changed it to a new one yet the warning light is still there. So they suspect its the control unit.
What will be the charges like if local worshop do a diagnose for the ecu ?
Or if its really the ecu, do you have any good contact for it?

Thanks again.

Try juzzforcars, think they have more sophisticated diagnotisics, not just auto logic to diagnose. Can ask Bro SeeToh for further info

Re: Hi I need help on my problem here.

Hi all,
After much goin to a few places to check on my problem.
Finally it's SOLVED.
PROBLEM - oil temperature sensor.

Was very happy when i found out that only that part is faulty that is causing the intermittent display of the yellow temperature signal.
Luckily i didnt decide on changing the control unit at the first workshop which i already spend close to RM$2500 ( radiator, thermostat, engine oil servicing ) Mind me, the CU cost a bomb.

So went over to the 3rd workshop which i was very much impressed , in rectification and explains in details . Sat through with him close to 4hrs finding the real fault on my car. Will strongly reccommend this bro in JB.
Not trying to exaggerate, but it help me save alot on unnecessary expenses, such as the first WS i went.

Cheers!
