HIOP Flash ECU upgrade

i am also interested to know and how it compares to OBIT. its a german upgrade so i think it shud be more suited for BMW's. i really dont know though. hope some bros here can relay the feedback.

i did the HIOP ecu upgrade at JuzzForCar last year.
honestly i didn't feel any diff.... in my opinion.
maybe the throttle response was slightly better.... for awhile...
but still abit upset since i paid $700 for a 1/2hr job that didn't seem to do anything much..
(15mins to d/l from my ecu, returned the next day, 15mins to upload into ecu, then they say bye-bye to me) :furious:

now i have obit on my car. definitely worth the money.

Hi

Hapi new yr. :) are u guys refering to the cam?heard that once cam is installed ecu tuning also need to be done. beside all this,do changing a exhaust and a large cone filter help in performance? By how much %.

thought of changing that. If done, do we need to change our braking system.

Any one can advise

tks

I think to be fair, the money u paid for the hi-op is not about how long it takes at the workshop to upload but the fee for the development. Also, the program actually took 2 days and travelled half the world and come back.

I had Hi-Op in my car and it did have an improvement to the overall torque and horsepower inprovement, not a lot, just about 7hp but proven by before and after dyno result.

sorry, i guess what u said is true. nothing to do with Hi-Op.
just pissed with the service at JuzzforCars.

Sorry, dude. But y r u so pissed off with JuzzforCars?

I had HIOP flash programming done for my E46 320i last year. Definite improvement overall in terms of driveability, mid range torque. Hard to quantify, but the improvement, though slight, is perceptable.

However, I had Obit done for my E65 730i today, as HIOP electronic tuning for my car is not available yet.
Allowing for the difference in cubic capacities, I feel that the %tage improvement in performance is definitely more, subjectively compared to what I have experienced with HIOP in the 320i.
The car feels so much lighter, throttle response so much sharper and the rev rise much faster. The gearchanges come on more rapidly( because the rev rise faster ) and above 3500 rpm, the pull of the engine feels almost like a 735i ( the sensation at that rpm feels something like an exagerated VTEC transition ). All these experienced at part throttle.

I am not related to any Obit dealer but I would definitely recommend this mod to anyone seeking a below $1k fix for his crave for power.

However, I am not sure about FC in the long term though....

Just my opinion.

err, how much are we talking about here? for the OBIT i mean. i drive a 520i.

thks.

thks bro'.

i understand from the thread that this is software upgrade and no hardware installed?

Correct, this is just purely electronic ( software ) tuning. No hardware like cams, air injectors or filters are installed.
Of course, this form of tuning requires the physical installation of the piggyback subcom to interphase with the car's ECU.

kam sia.

now i know why my malay friends call bmw-banyak makan wang!!!

just as a matter of interest, my 5 series is just turning 3 yrs old, and i have had my brake linings changed once, brake pads changed (4), whole steering sys replaced (luckily under warr), bearings for the air-con and the engine drive changed.

is this normal wear and tear? the car has done 82,000 km. normal spore driving. wife drives it most of the time.

Hi yky,

You mean OBIT is also using a piggyback?
So its working the same way as Unichip ?
